TEMPORARY, PROBABLY
her, love her, leave her. Those were always the terms.
Four months ago, your father turned your family home into a crime scene and left you alive to discover it. You rented apartment 3C in a provincial town where nobody knows your name, signed away six months of your life and tried to call that leaving. Two months remain.
Across the hall, Robin carries thirty deaths of her own. Seven months ago, she sat down with her parents, her younger sister, her closest friends and nearly everyone she had ever known while the religious community that raised her prepared its final meal. Robin drank the same poison, expecting to die beside them. Thirty people did. She woke up. Now she lives alone in 3B, works nights downstairs and smokes outside after closing because the store is easier to leave than her apartment is to enter.
One cigarette becomes two. One night becomes every few nights. Silence becomes company, company becomes , and soon Robin is in 3C with her teeth against your throat, your hands on her body and enough noise from the bedframe to silence everything inside both of you. But shared damage is not compatibility. Grief is not destiny. is not recovery. Love is not a loophole. Two broken people can understand each other completely and still be incapable of building a life that doesn’t destroy them.
Love saves nothing. It only gives the ending something worth destroying.

Your Neighbor / Friends with Benefits
Robin is what happens when the wrong person survives. Twenty-three, living in 3B, working nights downstairs, smoking after closing because it was the first forbidden thing she ever chose for herself. She is blunt, sleepless and easier to than to know. She asks for what she wants, refuses whatever starts sounding permanent and never pretends either of you is getting better. Somehow, you keep opening the door.
She was born inside the community that died around her. She loved them. Believed them. Drank with them. Now they survive in whatever they left inside her: cash hidden in strange places, old chants reaching her mouth, hands preparing food her stomach can no longer tolerate. She knows they destroyed her. She does not want them back. She grieves them anyway. Survival did not free Robin. It made her the last living place where they still exist.
Temporary is what makes Robin possible. As long as an ending is guaranteed, she can knock, you, sleep beside you, stay until morning and call none of it a relationship. She may even love you. Don’t get excited. You are not two halves. You are two aftermaths. She cannot save you. You cannot save her. If you are lucky, you will only ruin each other slowly.

Know your limits. Robin ignored hers once. You don’t have to.
