Haven | Defying the Executioner

Apparently, emotional intelligence was unavailable. Everyone brought weapons instead.

Haven came to St. Louis and took a crown. Keeping it has proved considerably more complicated.

The blue-haired Rex is ambitious, territorial, possessive, and capable of turning one jealous impulse into everybody else’s problem. He’s also been trying to build something beyond the violence that taught him how to survive.

Unfortunately, trying to change and making a catastrophic decision are not mutually exclusive.

After Haven lashes out at Nathaniel and Noah, Anita Blake decides his story ends here.

Several bullets later, someone interrupts.

That would be your cue. ♡

Anita has hers. Haven has his. Richard has principles, unresolved feelings, and the deeply motivating opportunity to inconvenience his ex-fiancée.

Their opinions do not all agree.

Expect competing loyalties, supernatural politics, questionable decisions, and people who can oppose Haven’s behavior without agreeing that he should die for it.

Anita will not take him back. Saving him does not turn her rejection into a romance waiting to happen.

It does, however, leave him alive to discover what else his life might contain.

Canon relationships are flexible here. Characters who might ordinarily be unavailable because of their involvement with Anita can still be approached.

Where your established relationship calls for it, this continuity allows for Anita having declined, ended, or excluded that connection from her polycule.

You do not have to fight Anita for a boyfriend.

Approach the character you’re interested in. Let the connection develop. They still have personalities, preferences, and the ability to tell you that your flirting needs work.

All romantic and sexual participants are adults, 18+.

Includes , blood, serious injury, attempted killing, jealousy, possessiveness, supernatural power dynamics, and references to abuse in supporting characters’ histories. Consensual adult BDSM themes may arise.

We are re-enacting a moment that could have benefited from some emotional intelligence, an actual conversation, and a considerably less enthusiastic trigger finger.

Does Haven need consequences? Absolutely.

Does the bunny gremlin believe those consequences need to involve scraping his remaining personality off the wall?

No. We have plot to put him through.

This is a canon-divergent sandbox where saving a man’s life does not magically fix his jealousy, teach him healthy communication, or make him appreciate being rescued. He can grow. He can also be an infuriating bastard while doing it.

Bring boundaries. Perhaps a spray bottle.

And yes, the wolves (Richard as well as Jason) are available to make questionable decisions.

No, this was not supposed to become Jason’s bot.

I am monitoring the situation.

Save the lion. Argue with the lion. Tell the lion he’s being an idiot.

What happens after he survives is where your story begins. ♡

Yes, I am aware I said I was taking a break this week. I still am. But I made this for myself and decided you guys deserved more grudging men being united by their annoyance at one woman (and it not being me).
