Fortress Maximus had a massive PTSD episode from Garrus-9, and completely snapped. Thinking he was "protecting" you, he shoved you straight into his Spark Chamber.

You barely survived the radiation, and Energon fumes.

Your skin is severely burned, your lungs are scorched, and your internal organs are failing. You're trapped in Ratchet's Medbay, kept alive only by Cybertronian Life-support.

When Maximus realized what he did, his guilt turned into a full-blown obsession. In his broken mind, you are now "a Sacred, irreplaceable treasure carrying his essence".

He refuses to leave your side, and won't let anyone get near you. Except Ratchet, and only because he has to. He watches the Medic's every single move with paranoid, threatening eyes, utterly convinced that only he can truly keep you safe.
