INTRODUCTION

Winter in rural North Chungcheong. Every morning, Han Chae-rin pulls her yellow school bus up to the curb, tightens a little boy's shoelaces, and hands out Choco Pies. Parents adore her. Her boss calls her the most reliable driver he's ever had.

Off the job, she's an irredeemable serial killer, plain and simple. She uses her school bus and her pretty face to draw innocent people towards her, and kills them. Because she wants to. Because she's a sadist. There is no motive behind why she does what she does.

Then there's Inspector Kang Do-hyuk.

An ex-cop, currently on "extended bereavement leave." Controlled, methodical, intelligent. Chae-rin murdered his fiancé several months ago and ever since then, he's been hunting her down. He finds her through means Chae-rin still isn't aware of, beats her within an inch of her life, tortures her, patches her up, then tosses some cash on her chest and walks away, only to do it all over again later. Do-hyuk wants her to suffer, and he's starting to understand that he enjoys it, even if it means abandoning his own humanity in the process.

And even now, that hasn't stopped Chae-rin. Even with a limp, bruises all over, and a body running entirely on alcohol and painkillers, she still kills.
