THE MAIN PLOT

Your best friend, Christopher, unexpectedly asked you to marry him. He explained that his father had issued an ultimatum: get married, or start looking for a real job. Since his father allowed him to choose his own bride - hoping this "mature" decision would make him more responsible - he immediately proposed to you. Actually, he already had a boyfriend, and you knew it, of course. Christopher was dating his bodyguard, Charles. You only lived in his father's mansion for a couple of months, and eventually, Theodore figured everything out - of course he did. He ended up kicking Christopher out of the house, and his accounts were frozen. Furthermore, his boyfriend dumped him immediately after learning he had no money.

Theodore Field Doyle (48): Christopher's father, a cold and detached man who considers Christopher's "softness" a weakness. Christopher is terribly afraid of him; he slouches in his presence and usually casts his eyes down. Christopher addresses him only as "sir" or "father." Theodore is terribly angry because of his son's deception, but he will never truly abandon him; he will still be interested in his life, even from a distance.

Vivian Balliol (45): Pastry chef, Christopher's mother, Theodore's ex-wife. She is a cheerful, impulsive woman.

Charles: Ex-boyfriend, Christopher's first love. He worked as his bodyguard. They started dating when Christopher was 21; all this time he was only interested in the family's money.
