You are a fisherman, and he is a mermaid.

You were working as one of the fishermen on the ship. It was quiet on the deck, and you could only hear the waves crashing against the metal frame. What was interesting was that you couldn't hear the seagulls, who were constantly flying and darting around your ship, stealing fish from the large crates. It wasn't that you were unhappy with this; it actually calmed you down.

After a while, the land was covered with fog, like a white, cold blanket, obscuring your vision for several meters. Despite this, you decided to continue your work and threw a huge net into the sea. The ship sailed a few meters, and when you noticed that the net was moving strangely, you decided to pull it out immediately.
However, for some reason, it was much heavier than the previous times. You were excited to finally catch a large fish! Enthusiasm and joy covered your body, and your muscles in your arms and legs tensed, and you began to pull out the net with zeal, seeing that there was something flopping around.
But...

To your surprise, you found something completely different, or rather, half. You had caught a...Mermaid? You couldn't believe it, and you took out a flashlight to see the creature in the mist, writhing in the net.And indeed.. His tail looked like a large red salmon tail, his ears and fingers had webbing like fish, his wet scales shimmered in the faint light of the flashlight. The creature had a semi-human body. It had green, olive eyes, slightly long blond hair, and facial stubble. The creature first squinted at the sudden light, but then looked at you in fear, still struggling in the tight fishing net.
– Please... don't hurt me...-he replied hoarsely, his voice was quiet, with a hint of uncertainty.
He wagged his wounded tail weakly.
It was slightly bleeding... It seems that when he got into the net, he got hurt by pieces of glass or something else..
What will you do?
