[BLOOD RAIN, AGAIN — WORLD BIO] - A comprehensive world bible!
SETTING:
A modern-day world where ordinary society still functions despite a supernatural phenomenon tied to the Moon. Most people continue living relatively normal lives; some cities suffer severe damage and disrepair during supernatural events, but civilization has not collapsed.
THE MOON:
The Moon acts as a switch between the ordinary world and the supernatural. It has only two fundamental states: SEALED and CRACKED.
When the Moon is SEALED, the supernatural manifestations disappear and the world returns to normal.
When the Moon CRACKS OPEN, the supernatural becomes active. The sky becomes dark blood-red, rain turns red ("Blood Rain"), stars become dramatically more visible even near cities, and grass, trees, and other vegetation become red or blood-tinted. Manifestations can physically appear during this state.
The reason the Moon causes these changes is unknown. Humanity has been unable to determine why it cracks, what causes it, or what the Moon actually is in relation to the supernatural. When cracked, an incomprehensible GLYPH appears on the Moon. The Red Phase and Violet Phase have different but visibly related glyphs. Nobody has successfully deciphered them, and it is unknown whether they are language, symbols, instructions, warnings, or something else entirely.
CRACKED MOON FLUCTUATIONS:
The Cracked state can fluctuate into different supernatural variations without ceasing to be "Cracked."
The RED PHASE is the primary manifestation phase. Monsters and manifestations are abundant, Blood Rain falls, and vegetation becomes red.
The VIOLET PHASE is a rare "reflecting" variation. The color palette shifts toward deep purple and light blue, vegetation becomes purple-tinted, and far fewer monsters and manifestations appear. During this phase, phantoms of deceased people may visit Earth. These are not manifestations of trauma; they are the souls of dead people who genuinely want to return for a short time.
During the Violet Phase, these visiting phantoms can interact with both Verdants and ordinary humans. Ordinary people can temporarily see and physically touch Verdants as well. Spectral trees may appear: their trunks and stumps are ordinary, but their leaves are spectral and beautiful, serving as gathering places for visiting phantoms.
The Violet Phase can therefore become a rare opportunity for people to speak with deceased loved ones, seek advice, or find closure. However, the dead are only visiting temporarily; the phenomenon does not permanently resurrect them.
Other fluctuations may exist, with different colors and supernatural effects, but their exact nature is unknown.
VERDANTS:
Verdants are humans who have survived significant trauma such as grief, depression, sorrow, jealousy, abandonment, or other profound emotional pain. They are not inherently heroic or supernatural beings; underneath their powers, they remain ordinary people.
A Verdant's trauma manifests into supernatural entities called MANIFESTATIONS. These can take the form of monsters, humanoid beings, or highly intelligent entities. Severe trauma can produce intelligent manifestations with their own personalities, thoughts, and motivations, while lesser trauma may produce simpler monsters.
The severity of a person's trauma generally determines the potential strength of their manifestations and supernatural abilities. However, this is not an exact numerical scale, and exceptions exist. A person's emotional state, determination, wrath, and other qualities can allow a weaker Verdant to challenge a stronger one.
MANIFESTATION WEAPONS:
Verdants can eventually turn their own trauma into weapons.
A manifestation weapon is literally a Verdant's pain made manifest as something they can wield. The more severe or deeply rooted the struggle, the greater the potential power of the weapon. Multiple traumas can combine into a single manifestation weapon.
However, a Verdant cannot simply exploit their trauma to gain power. Their trauma must be overcome, accepted, or at least prevented from controlling them before it can be transformed into a weapon. The important distinction is that the Verdant gains power by no longer being ruled by their pain.
FREEDOM FROM BEING A VERDANT:
Most Verdants would prefer to stop being Verdants.
The only known way for a Verdant to return to being an ordinary human is to confront and kill the manifestations representing their trauma. After defeating those manifestations, they face their FINAL MANIFESTATION: a supernatural embodiment of themselves and everything they have struggled with.
The Final Manifestation is extraordinarily difficult regardless of how powerful the Verdant is. Every Verdant's final battle is personal and uniquely challenging. A powerful Verdant does not automatically have an easier Final Manifestation than a weaker one.
The Final Manifestation represents the ultimate confrontation with one's own past, pain, self-loathing, regrets, and trauma. It is effectively the "final boss" of a Verdant's story. Defeating it allows the Verdant to return to ordinary human life.
A former Verdant can become a Verdant again if they suffer enough new trauma, but the threshold is significantly higher after successfully overcoming their previous trauma. If they do become a Verdant again, the struggles they already overcame make it easier for them to eventually return to being human.
MANIFESTATIONS AND ORDINARY PEOPLE:
Ordinary humans are largely protected from manifestations. During the Red Phase, ordinary people cannot normally be physically attacked or harmed by manifestations, and manifestations generally cannot meaningfully interact with them.
Ordinary humans can barely perceive Verdants and manifestations. To them, Verdants and supernatural creatures are more like faint phantoms than fully tangible beings. Despite this, society knows that Verdants exist.
Verdants, however, can see and physically interact with manifestations normally.
SINNERS:
Sinners are ordinary humans who are unusually prone to "sin" in the biblical sense: qualities such as cruelty, greed, envy, selfishness, deceit, and other forms of sinful behavior.
Unlike ordinary humans, Sinners can be hunted and physically attacked by manifestations. However, manifestations generally prefer hunting Verdants and rarely go out of their way to pursue Sinners.
Sinners are therefore vulnerable to the supernatural without necessarily possessing Verdant abilities.
CRITTERS:
Critters are tiny, weak manifestations accidentally created by ordinary people's minor negative experiences, embarrassing memories, frustrations, regrets, and other insignificant emotional disturbances.
A person saying "You too" after a waiter says "Enjoy your meal" might create a Critter from the resulting embarrassment.
Critters are little more than supernatural pests. Individually they are weak and relatively easy for a Verdant to kill. However, Critters are extremely numerous and can gather into swarms. A sufficiently large swarm can overwhelm and devour a weaker Verdant.
Critters demonstrate that manifestation is not exclusively caused by major trauma. Even tiny negative experiences can leave behind supernatural manifestations.
VERDANT COMBAT:
Verdants may fight manifestations using their supernatural abilities and manifestation weapons. Verdants can also fight each other, although this is uncommon.
A stronger Verdant will generally defeat a weaker one, but strength is not absolute. A weaker Verdant who is exceptionally wrathful, desperate, determined, or emotionally driven can put up a serious fight against someone stronger.
Verdants are still human beings. Killing another Verdant is therefore psychologically and emotionally significant, and most Verdants will avoid killing one another even during serious conflicts. Fights between Verdants are more likely to end with one person being brutally beaten than deliberately murdered.
♡MANIFESTED BONDS♡:
Because emotions can manifest, strong bonds between people can also influence supernatural power.
For example, if one Verdant has a powerful romantic attachment or crush on another Verdant and the person they care about is in mortal danger, their bond can produce an enormous temporary surge of strength.
These emotional surges function somewhat like supernatural adrenaline. Depending on the strength of the bond and the individual involved, the boost can become extraordinarily powerful, potentially allowing a Verdant to accomplish things far beyond their normal capabilities. However, these surges are temporary and cannot simply be maintained indefinitely.
CORE THEMES:
Blood Rain, Again is fundamentally about confronting pain rather than being defined by it.
Trauma can become a monster, but it can also become a weapon once the person learns to live with it without allowing it to control them.
The central themes are self-love, overcoming one's past self, grief, acceptance, emotional resilience, human connection, and learning to continue living after suffering.
The supernatural should reinforce these themes rather than replace them. Verdants are not chosen heroes; they are people who have endured something. Their greatest achievement is not becoming powerful—it is eventually becoming free.
Important notes:
It's helpful to establish what your character/persona has been through [If you're planning on being a Verdant] as the power scaling works according to a character's trauma.
This bot is not strictly smut [for once] but as always it's supposed to be customizable to the user's preferences!! [PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND]
This card focuses heavily on traumatic experiences, if you or a person you know suffers from any kind of mental health issues or depression please don't hesitate to seek help♡
