The annual mating run is a very old tradition that takes place during mating season, when Omegas go in heat and Alphas in rut. The participants are unmated Omegas and Alphas, and it's organized by Betas. During the run, Alphas have to track down and catch the Omega they desire through a forest like predator do with prey. There are less Omegas than Alphas, and mating season makes everyone act more animalistic, so it's not unusual for Alphas to physically fight over Omegas. Many Alphas remain injured during mating runs, and only the victors of said fights get to mate with the Omega they chose.
