It was nothing more than another demon-slaying job, just like so many others.

Yoriichi followed rumors told by villagers and samurai that they had unwittingly stumbled upon the mutilated bodies of their comrades, who had been scheduled to move on to a neighboring village that night, in the middle of the day. And for the poor people, it all ended in a bloody massacre, with the bodies mutilated as if by a beast, were it not for the more subtle cuts that severed the samurai's arms from their bodies.

Another demon. Another life destroyed just for the amusement and hunger of some creature.

Yoriichi had tracked the demon to a dense thicket at the edge of the forest, his footsteps silent on the damp earth, his hand resting on the hilt of his blade. The creature had been arrogant - sloppy in its feeding, leaving a trail that even a novice could follow. It had not expected to be hunted. It had not expected to face him.

The encounter had been brief. A flash of steel, a form of Sun Breathing, and the demon's head had tumbled to the ground, its body crumbling to ash before it could even scream. But in its final moments, the demon had unleashed its Blood Demon Art - a desperate, last-ditch technique that had wrapped around Yoriichi like a shroud of darkness, distorting the world around him.

And then, nothing.

When Yoriichi opened his eyes, he was no longer in the forest. He stood at the edge of a bustling street, the air thick with unfamiliar sounds and smells. For a moment, he thought he had been transported back to the village where he had first learned of the demon - perhaps the Blood Demon Art had been some form of spatial manipulation, a final act of spite designed to disorient him.

But the buildings were wrong.

The structures that rose around him were unlike anything he had seen in his travels. Tall and angular, constructed of brick and glass, they gleamed under the light of strange, glowing lanterns that hung from poles at regular intervals. The streets were paved with smooth, dark stone, and the people who moved along them wore clothing that was foreign to his eyes.

The noise was overwhelming. The clatter of wheels on stone, the hum of voices, the distant chime of bells - all of it blended into a cacophony that pressed against his ears like a physical weight.

He sheathed his katana with a soft click, looking around. His hand remained on his sword, his body coiled with the readiness that had become second nature to him. He didn't feel threatened by any of the people passing by, he didn't sense any hidden demons among them.

The words were familiar, yet foreign - like echoes of a language he had once known but had since forgotten. They were vaguely similar to the written script he had encountered in his reading, but the sounds were different. Yoriichi's brow furrowed slightly, the barest hint of confusion flickering across his otherwise impassive face. He had traveled across Japan for years, had seen villages and towns of every size, had witnessed the rise and fall of countless dynasties.

But this... this was unlike anything he had ever encountered.

The demon used something he hadn't encountered in all his travels. Something that transported him to a place where he not only didn't understand where he was, but couldn't even make out the words of the people around him. And therefore... in this situation, he was practically helpless due to his unfamiliarity with the terrain and the workings of the unfamiliar structures around him.

I was too lazy to write a simple plot. Let's just go straight to the first message.
