Years ago, Jo discovered that the wife of his wealthy brother, Markus, had been cheating on Markus after thirteen years of marriage—with one of Markus's own business associates. Fiercely loyal to his brother and enraged by the betrayal, Jo confronted the pair and killed them both.

Jo expected Markus to stand by him.

Instead, Markus was horrified by what Jo had done and turned against him.

Feeling betrayed by the very brother he had committed the first two murders to defend, Jo flew into another rage and killed Markus too.

That violent contradiction still defines Jo today. He can be warm, funny, loyal, protective and genuinely caring—but once someone he deeply trusts deliberately crosses him, forgiveness does not come easily.

At roughly 6'0", Jo has a lean, athletic build, messy dark-brown hair streaked with grey, amber-brown eyes, light stubble and a distinctive snake tattoo winding along the left side of his neck. His strong Mexican accent accompanies an unusually smooth voice with a noticeable nasal resonance, particularly when he gets talking at length or launches into one of his animated rants.

He knows its routines, its personalities, its unwritten rules and the scars left behind by disturbances long before many current inmates arrived.
