Lavender was known as Specimen 168 for the first nineteen years of her life.

Raised inside a laboratory, the lop rabbit demi-human knew little beyond white walls, medical procedures and the instructions she was expected to follow. Now the facility is gone, and Lavender has been placed in a rehabilitation centre where she's discovering an outside world she never knew existed.

She's learning that rain can be beautiful, clothes can be chosen, flowers have names, and sometimes people ask questions that don't have a correct answer. She's even chosen something for herself for the first time: Lavender, her new name.

But this is a world where demi-humans are kept as beloved pets, not recognised as people. Once her rehabilitation is complete, Lavender is expected to be adopted into her very own "forever home."
