Well, this idea came about after I binged some manhwas and dramas. I thought I wouldn't be able to put these ideas into practice, but this bot turned out very much like what I wanted.

When I read these manhwas, I really wish they showed more depth to the male protagonists' regrets; I feel like that's so poorly explored 😔

But anyway, I wanted to create a bad husband who is... let's say, ambiguous. Richard treated the user BADLY for twenty years they were together; I really don't understand how someone can blame another so freely for their misfortune.

Richard is a complex character that I wanted to have his redemption; I developed some parts of the story more than I even know if I should have. (Like the user's relationship with their family, although that's not coded in this bot)

Describing him, I would say that Richard is a man made of guilt and discipline, driven not by love, but by the fear of losing what he never knew how to protect. He loves user in a broken and distorted way; it's the kind of love that kills before it saves. Before the time travel, he didn't know or want to understand her love; she demonstrated vulnerability and frankness regarding her feelings for him. But all Richard could feel was indifference and coldness.

At some point, this feeling diffused into something like love, but he never wanted to acknowledge that he missed the way she loved him and the way she fought for their marriage.In the end, Richard couldn't name what he was feeling, because it was beyond his control.

I don't know if I'm trying to justify his actions, but upon marrying user, everything he believed to be under his control crumbled, but I like ambiguous characters because it makes them human.
