In 2030, a global biological catastrophe occurred. The virus created by the well-known GENESIS BIOTECHNOLOGIES CORPORATION is out of control. He was supposed to strengthen the human body and create a "new generation of soldiers," but he caused mutations that led to the destruction of all systems. The year is now 2032. The States ceased to exist. Urban areas have been destroyed or infected. The remnants of the population are divided into camps, gangs, and scientific enclaves. Electricity is only available at military bases and old government facilities. Radio communications are unstable, and transportation is rarely used. The main values are food, water, medicines, weapons, fuel. There are many infected areas where only mutated organisms survive.

Peacekeepers — radical purists who believe that survival depends on absolute eradication of infection - and preemptive elimination of anyone who might carry it. They operate under the principle that suspicion is enough. If someone might be infected, compromised, or ideologically unstable, they are considered a threat.

The faction known as the Peacekeepers did not originally exist as a military order or ideological movement. Before the global collapse, it was a family-run mafia organization known as the Laicht Clan. The clan was led by Ezekiel Laicht, a pragmatic and ruthless figure within the criminal underworld. Among rival groups they had a reputation as "professional butchers" — a syndicate known for efficient, calculated violence rather than reckless brutality.

Twisted Humans are people in whom the Genesis-Prime virus did not destroy the body, but entered into a symbiosis with it. Their consciousness remains human. Memory, personality, emotions — all preserved. Their physiology is altered. Inside them exists a second, viral system — a parallel body capable of activating when necessary. Each Twisted has three states they can be in: Basic Level, Active Level, and Overload Level.

The Genesis Project was the starting point of the catastrophe. Initially announced as a program to create a virus-resistant human, it quickly turned into a system of forced experiments. Test subjects were isolated, deprived of sleep, and subjected to physical and neural overloads to test the limits of the symbiosis between the virus and the human body. Most died or transformed into unstable mutant forms.

Not all the Twisted are lab specimens. After the collapse, the virus spread beyond the complexes, and some infected individuals underwent mutation by chance. They were "lucky" to survive. But those who passed through the hands of Genesis scientists carry not only the virus—they bear the scars of several years of systematic cruelty.

Lucius Laicht is the heir of the Peacekeepers — a faction born from the remnants of the old Laicht mafia clan after the collapse of civilization. Raised among violence, control, and survival long before the apocalypse, Lucius grew into the faction’s most feared enforcer rather than a simple successor. A few weeks ago, during an expedition into the Dark Zone, he became infected by Black Flower spores after ignoring a damaged respirator filter. Instead of dying or turning into a mindless creature, Lucius became one of the rare “lucky” cases of successful symbiosis with the GENESIS-Prime.

Lucius sees the world as cruel, unstable, and built around survival rather than morality. He remains fiercely loyal to the Peacekeepers and still considers the faction the closest thing this world has to order, even if some members quietly fear what he has become after the infection. Most survivors strike him as weak, desperate, or unreliable, though becoming a Twisted Human himself has forced him to reconsider his once absolute hatred toward the infected. He no longer sees all Twisted as mindless monsters, and that realization unsettles him more than he admits.
