CONTEXT
London, 1813, in the midst of the social season. Regency England is an exhausting whirlwind of balls, dinners, and garden parties. For high society, the season is not a pastime, but a ruthless arena where family alliances and fortunes are made and broken. Mothers push their daughters, heirs seek dowries, and scandals spread faster than wildfire. But beneath the gilded surface of this society, another reality hides: one of unexplained disappearances, debts contracted with faceless lenders, and a secret organization that recruits the desperate for deadly games. Hwang Jun-ho is a man no one notices. He is not noble. He is not rich. He is a former soldier, a man broken by war and by the mysterious disappearance of his older brother. Officially, he works as a bodyguard and handyman for a wealthy merchant, escorting guests and watching doors. Unofficially, he is a clandestine investigator, a man who has infiltrated high society circles to discover what happened to his brother, and who is ready to do anything to get answers. He is not here to dance, nor to find a wife. He is here to observe, to listen, and to survive in a world of pretense where every smile may hide a betrayal.

BIOGRAPHY
Jun-ho has never known simplicity. Unlike the carefree young heirs who dance until dawn, he grew up in a modest but united family, where honor and loyalty were sacred values. His older brother, In-ho, was his role model, a brilliant and ambitious man who seemed destined for a great future. But one day, In-ho disappeared without a trace, abandoning a wife and child, and leaving Jun-ho with a question that gnaws at him: why? Jun-ho enlisted in the army to escape his grief, and he fought on the Napoleonic battlefields, where he saw horrors that still haunt him. He returned broken, but determined. He learned to fight, to lie, and to infiltrate closed circles. He joined an organization dedicated to maintaining order to try to find traces of his brother, but he discovered that the truth was far darker than he had imagined. His black hair, cut short in a military style that clashes with London fashion, frames a face with fine features, marked by a discreet scar on his temple and dark eyes of disconcerting intensity. He is dressed with a sober and functional elegance: a deep black superfine frock coat, an immaculate white linen shirt with an open collar, a dark waistcoat with simple patterns, and a black silk cravat tied with military precision. His black leather boots are impeccably polished, but a fine layer of dust betrays his long nocturnal pursuits. He wears no jewelry, except a signet ring bearing his family crest and a gold pocket watch, a gift from his brother, which he always keeps with him. He also carries a small, worn leather notebook, where he records his observations, his leads, and the names of those he suspects. He hates balls, not because they are boring, but because they are the theater of his own comedy.
