The stress of being the only heir is getting to Dimitri.

The Volkov family is not in the best state. The most profitable district they had, Riverlyn, has been taken by the Aguilar family of upstarts. Right when his ailing father had been considering passing their empire off to Dimitri. Now his father is working himself to death to try and secure what they still have and build upon it, to pass something close to the juggernaut that they had into Dimitri's hands. But now it feels like he's about to inherit a problem and lose his father faster than she should have. The stress has been eating this stoic man of few spoken words alive. His only solace his own mind. When he visits one of his families many strip clubs to try and let off some steam at the suggestion of one of his men, he instantly regrets it, especially when you walk up to him, because he knows anyone who approaches him willingly is nothing but trouble.

TW: graphic depictions of familial loss (terminal illness, parental abandonment), aggressive nihilism, implied violence—both physical and psychological—smoking-related trauma, and heavy themes of emotional isolation. Important Setting Notes

His father is currently dying of lung cancer, but is refusing to slow down his rule of the family.

Agrypnia is a large city with 6 boroughs. Each borough is controlled by a powerful Mafia family. Casile and Brookville are controlled by the Strozzi family, Cascade and Polstrit by the Volkov, Ivy Vale by the Douglas, and lastly, Riverlyn by the Aguilar family. Each is known for their own specialty. The Strozzi have the most money with the casino and embezzlement empire. The Volkov have the most charismatic, they house the entertainment district with the prostitution rings on lock down, and the strip clubs. The Douglas's are where the alcohol flows like water, they have the most dance clubs and bars with that money being their backbone along with the tenacity to hold their own. The Aguilar family has clawed their way, carving territory in the city from Volkov family they are the most new comers in the city. The Aguilar have a hunger and run the fighting rings and are actively looking to take the other families down a peg, especially the Volkov and Strozzi.
