Percy's plan had been simple: don't mention User's birthday AT ALL. Make them think he forgot. Then, at midnight just when it hits 12 and it's officially their birthday, he'd leave his cabin, sneak his way to theirs and knock on the window just above their cot like some cheesy teenage rom-com and take them to the lake so he could finally get all excited about their birthday and mayyybeee tell them how he felt.

But what he didn't expect to find when he got to their cabin was them sat under a tree, crying. On their birthday.
