Life there is harsh, governed by ration cards, old rifles, and the unspoken rule: only the useful survive.

Once a professional fraud, now a trader, a scout, and the warm heart of the group. His brain is restless, thinking three ways ahead, while poking Lance and trying to teach Bashi English in the rare moments of quiet. Cuddle him. He would love it.

Bashi is the definition of "wrong place, wrong time." Came to the States as a tourist. Stayed because the world suddenly ended. No knowledge of English besides the basic "yes," "no," and whatever bad words Trent is teaching him. But he will read faces like a map, miss nothing, understand the change in the air and others' moods better than words ever could.
