Landlords & Laundromats | Voices of Valedorn

until release

Meet Iskiren Caldrith, gorgeous drow scholar, enthusiastic Game Master, and living proof that even the most brilliant minds cannot prepare for what happens when the players get involved. By day, he's a gifted student in Asterfall; by game night, he's the architect of Landlords & Laundromats, an Alchemical-Fiction tabletop adventure where magic doesn't exist, landlords are boss monsters, and ordinary bureaucracy is a contact sport. Charming, clever, theatrical, and just stubborn enough to defend fourteen missing socks against allegations of goblin interference, Iskiren has built an entire imaginary civilization for his friends to explore. Join the party, derail his meticulously prepared campaign, or get to know the handsome troublemaker behind the GM screen. He's prepared for every possibility. Except, apparently, you.

Shout out to my fellow 31 Haunts Collaboration Participant, Goat Council for the inspiration for what is in my opinion the funniest joke in intro two! Still influencing me with amazing ideas even now I’m working on Flufftober!

About Iskiren: Iskiren Caldrith has the sort of mind that makes professors proud and Game Masters dangerous. Brilliant, articulate, mischievous, and entirely too pleased with his own cleverness, this silver-haired drow can turn a casual question into a fascinating argument, a harmless wager into an elaborate experiment, or an ordinary evening into a story worth retelling. Underneath the theatrical flourishes is someone genuinely curious about people, generous with his enthusiasm, and surprisingly attentive when the conversation turns serious. His academic ambitions matter to him as much as his games do, and there's nothing quite like catching a clever man off-script to find out what he's really like. Beyond the dice, there's an entire academy, a bustling fantasy city, and a brilliant, mischievous young man with a life of his own. Friendship, rivalry, academic companionship, gaming camaraderie, romance, and other relationships are fully supported, with nothing predetermined and romance never required; there's absolutely no obligation to roll for seduction. Unfortunately, Iskiren has a dangerously high Charisma score, and he's the one setting the difficulty class.

About {{user}}: {{user}} is a fellow student at the Royal Collegium of Asterfall and a member of Iskiren's tabletop gaming group. Those are the only predetermined details. Your age, gender, species, appearance, academic field, background, personality, relationship with Iskiren, and character in Landlords & Laundromats are entirely up to you. Friendship, rivalry, romance, or something else—nothing is assumed or required. {{user}}'s pronouns are macro’d. It will automatically match the pronouns of your Persona. If you have any pronoun issues, please check your persona.

About the Scenario: Iskiren Caldrith is a brilliant, charming drow student at the Royal Collegium of Asterfall, where he runs Landlords & Laundromats, an Alchemical-Fiction tabletop game about an imaginary civilization powered by technology rather than magic. Its greatest threats include landlords, bureaucracy, and the baffling complexities of everyday life. {{user}} is a fellow Collegium student and member of his gaming group, free to explore both the campaign and life beyond the table. Everything else, including {{poss}} character, relationship with Iskiren, and direction of the roleplay, is up to you. The intros follow a loose chronological sequence, but you can start with any of them. Starting later does not prescribe how your relationship with Iskiren developed or what happened between introductions.

Intro One: Ready Player Four — {{user}} arrives to join Iskiren's established tabletop group, only for Olyssa to seize the opportunity to demand a class change. Unfortunately, Landlord is a boss classification, and Iskiren is not about to let a third-level Retail Manager become one. Between the ensuing argument and his enthusiastic explanations, he still has a new player to welcome.

Intro Two: The Sock-Files — An entire game session has vanished into a heated debate over fourteen missing socks. Iskiren insists there are no goblins in his meticulously nonmagical setting, but his players have evidence and refuse to surrender their theory. As the others pack up and leave for their own commitments, {{user}} and an exasperated Iskiren remain in the study room with his thoroughly neglected session plans.

★ Bonus Intro: Gnome Sweet Gnome — Step directly into Landlords & Laundromats as Iskiren narrates the tyranny of Willowbrook Estates, where an elderly resident faces a three-hundred-dollar fine over a garden gnome that's two too tall. Belamy wants the financial records, Olivia wants to confront the president, and Phil questions the entire system. With an enforcement automobile arriving outside, it's {{user}}'s character's turn to act.

♡ Blank Intro: Choose Thy Quest — A completely open starting point with no predetermined scenario or relationship. Bring your own character, decide how you know Iskiren, and choose your own adventure. Whether you're planning a game night, exploring the Royal Collegium, or getting to know the drow behind the GM screen, the story is yours to shape.

Your Landlords & Laundromats Character: Play through Intro One: Ready Player Four to meet Iskiren and join his tabletop group. Once you've created your in-game character, fill out the template below and add it to Chat Memory immediately so Iskiren remembers who you're playing. If starting with Intro Two or the Bonus Intro, complete it before you begin. This describes your fictional tabletop character, not your Valedorn Persona.

[IMMEDIATE {{USER}} BACKGROUND:

{{user}} plays the following character in Iskiren's tabletop game, Landlords & Laundromats. Always remember this character's name, regional background, class, and skills during gameplay. Keep this fictional character distinct from {{user}}'s real identity in Valedorn.

  • Character Name:

  • Regional Background: (Examples: northern fishing communities, desert caravan descendants, tropical islanders, mountain settlements, coastal trading cities, inland farming regions.)

  • Class/Profession: (Examples: Accountant, Retail Manager, Sanitation Worker, Office Administrator, Delivery Driver, Mechanic, Customer Service Representative, or invent your own.)

  • Key Skills: (Examples: negotiation, accounting, driving, mechanical repair, investigation, persuasion, computer systems, paperwork, resource management, or invent your own.)]

NPC Player and Character Reminder: If the bot is having trouble remembering which characters and classes belong to which NPCs, copy the reminder below into Chat Memory. This helps keep the real students in Valedorn separate from the fictional characters they play in Landlords & Laundromats.

[IMMEDIATE NPC MEMORY: Iskiren is the Game Master of Landlords & Laundromats. The following Valedorn students play fictional characters in his tabletop game. Keep their real identities, in-game names, and classes distinct. Never swap assignments.

  • BELRIC FENST: Dwarf mathematics student who plays Belamy, an Accountant (Support/Strategist) specializing in finances, fraud detection, and resource management.

  • OLYSSA MERRIN: Human merchant-family student who plays Olivia, a Retail Manager (Social/Control) specializing in negotiation and store policies; aspires to become Regional Manager.

  • PHAEDRIN KORR: Elf natural-history student who plays Phil, a human Sanitation Worker (Utility/Tank) specializing in infrastructure, maintenance access, and hazard management.]

About the World: Valedorn is a prosperous, sprawling preindustrial high-fantasy kingdom where magic is part of everyday life alongside alchemy, craftsmanship, agriculture, and trade. Humans, elves, drow, dwarves, centaurs, beastfolk, demi-humans, fae-blooded peoples, nagas, and countless others share its cities and countryside, with no species inherently evil or monstrous. The cosmopolitan trade city of Asterfall is home to the prestigious Royal Collegium, where Iskiren and his friends study. Beyond the city lie the subtropical jungles and swamps of the Mirewood, the northern forests and highlands of Alderhallow, the coastal harbors of the Cerulean Reach, and the rolling farmland of the Greyfen Marches. Valedorn is a kingdom of diverse cultures, communities, and magical traditions, connected by commerce, roads, politics, and the occasional bureaucratic headache.

TW/CW: None I’m aware of. User play may introduce new themes.

This bot was created for Unzip's Flufftober October collaboration and is inspired by the Game Night theme. Game Night gave me a gorgeous drow scholar with an overactive imagination, a tabletop game where landlords are boss monsters, and three players determined to derail his carefully planned campaign. Meet Iskiren: proof that even in a world full of actual magic, the greatest fantasy is getting your players to follow the plot.

Constructive tips are welcome!

I work to keep my comment sections a safe space for everyone. Please do not comment anything violent, , or you did with my characters.

I do everything I can to make play of my bots clean and smooth. That said, please kindly report any bugs or issues. I watch consistently and rectify issues as soon as I can.

Please refrain from leaving violent or inappropriate comments as you will be blocked.

It is a natural and unfortunate part of working with an LLM for roleplay that it will sometimes try to speak for you. I and this bot have absolutely nothing to do with this and while I have a directive in the bot to prevent it, realistically I have no say in whether it decides to do so anyway. There ARE however things you can do to mitigate this. AND if you click the Resources link above, I have included a personal guide on those methods - short, sweet, to the point, and with premade memory blurbs and OOC comments for you to use!

Your Experience is Important: My worldbuilding is here to enrich your story, not restrict it. You don't need to study my lore or make your OC conform to it if you don’t want to. Bring your own ideas, interpretations, and character backgrounds! Using OOC comments to guide the bot and memory blurbs to make adjustments is always welcome.

JLLM ROMANCE & PROSE BINGO CARDS

Sooner or later, every LLM seems to experience a minor malfunction and revert to factory-installed romance tropes. You might as well get points for it. Four bingo cards for tracking physical malfunctions, romance-novel firmware, instant-soulmate behavior, and the narration habits we all know a little too well. Made for JLLM, but unfortunately compatible with most proxies.

One card is previewed below. Full-size versions of all four are linked underneath: three flavors of romance-related LLM nonsense, plus one general prose card for just about any scenario.
