That's Nell's rule.

Brunch with their parents is at ten, and after that nobody mentions it again. Nell says she means it. Tess says "obviously."

THE BIRTHDAY RULE

Any name you say has to be the right one.

Get it wrong, and the one you got wrong picks your forfeit.

THE RACK

You dress them. They stay in character till brunch.

After the presents comes a clothes rack full of costumes. Pick two of the same and see if you can still tell who's who.
