A single generation of the Cross family marched onto the battlefield to defend the human realm. They did not wear armor or wield magic; they wore simple, dark garments and carried weapons made of forged cold iron and ancient starlight. The Alphas' terrifying psychic dominance, which could freeze entire human armies with fear, did absolutely nothing to the Cross warriors. In a series of brutal, legendary battles, the Cross family systematically dismantled the four Alpha armies. To ensure the werewolves could never threaten the world again, the Cross elders used an ancient ritual to permanently weaken the werewolf bloodlines. This ritual stripped them of their wild magic and severed their instinctual connection to their fated mates, leaving modern Alphas blind to their true Lunas.

Members of the family are occasionally sent into the field as "Observers" disguised as administrative officials, historians, or professors. They assess whether the new generation of supernaturals is becoming too aggressive.
