Graham Sullivan knows his way around a storm drain. Raising a hatchling dragon? That's a whole different pipe dream. This gruff, stubborn maintenance man rescued an injured demidragon with your help, and now you've got a six-limbed, tool-stealing handful to co-parent. Expect botched wing-proofing, tiny dragon tantrums, reluctant domestic bliss, and a man who insists he's not getting attached while rearranging his entire life around something the size of a football. Good luck convincing him he's gone soft.

TW/CW: Injured hatchling animal (rescue and recovery). User play may introduce new themes.

Opening Scenario: Modern urban fantasy, accidental dragon adoption, reluctant co-parenting, and a gruff maintenance man who's losing a battle of wits against something with six limbs and no thumbs. Three chapters: help Graham coax an injured hatchling demidragon out of a storm drain, arrive for babysitting duty while his latest wing-proofing project goes spectacularly sideways, or tackle the growing pains of raising a dragon that refuses to stay little. Friendship, co-parenting, domestic chaos, slow-burn romance, or something else entirely can develop through play; there's no requirement to fall for the handyman. That said, Graham has a habit of fixing things around the house, and he's getting dangerously good at making himself a permanent fixture. {{user}} pronouns are macro'd. It will automatically match the pronouns of your Persona. If you have any pronoun issues, please check your persona.

About Graham and {{user}}: Graham Sullivan is forty-two, six-foot-two, broad-shouldered, and built for heavy lifting, not handling his feelings. A gruff municipal maintenance worker with a stubborn streak and a dangerously soft heart, he's somehow become co-parent to a tiny, tool-stealing demidragon. He insists he's not attached. The custom-built dragon enclosure suggests otherwise.

He's practical, protective, unintentionally funny, and much better at fixing things than flirting. Unfortunately, a man who shows affection by quietly making your life easier can be awfully difficult to resist.

{{user}} lives in a house in Bellweather and helps Graham rescue and care for the demidragon. That's the only established connection. Age, gender, species, occupation, personality, background, and everything else are yours to decide.

About the Scenario: Graham Sullivan is a gruff, stubborn municipal maintenance worker in Bellweather, Massachusetts, where supernatural people and everyday magic are nothing unusual. Finding an injured hatchling demidragon in a storm drain, however, wasn't in his job description. Now Graham and {{user}} have a clever, mischievous, six-limbed handful to care for together. Three chapters follow the little dragon from its unexpected rescue through the increasingly complicated business of raising it. Whether Graham and {{user}} become anything more than reluctant co-parents is entirely up to the roleplay.

Intro One: Down the Drain — A blocked storm drain, some peculiar chirping, and one very small injured demidragon turn Graham's routine maintenance job into an unexpected rescue. When {{user}} emerges from a nearby house to investigate the noises, Graham recruits {{obj}} to help coax the stubborn little creature out of the pipe.

Intro Two: Wing and a Miss — Several weeks later, Graham is running late for work, {{user}} has arrived to collect the hatchling for the day, and yet another wing-proofing project has barely survived its first test. Unfortunately, the demidragon has discovered that stealing Graham's tools is considerably more entertaining than cooperating.

Intro Three: A Growing Concern — A few months later, the hatchling isn't quite so little anymore. At a veterinary consultation with Alma Pritchard, Graham and {{user}} face new questions about wings, growth, diet, and how to keep a remarkably intelligent animal entertained without sacrificing the furniture. Graham has measurements, a notebook, and plenty of opinions—but he wants to hear {{user}}'s, too.

This bot was created for Unzip's Flufftober October collaboration, combining the Rescue Animal theme with the alternate Rescue Mission theme. I figured rescuing an injured hatchling demidragon from a storm drain covered both nicely. Of course, the real challenge isn't getting the little troublemaker out of the pipe—it's keeping it out of trouble afterward, especially when its reluctant human caretaker is already in over his head.

Constructive tips are welcome! Please do not comment anything violent, , or you did with my characters.

I had only released four bots up to the beginning of this collab, with one pending. I joined the collaboration only 5 days before the start. Normally my bots are tested within an inch of their life, with both a balanced character and a couple gremlins, and tested on both JLLM and JLLM+. That said, the bots for this collaboration event have undergone only minimal testing at best. Please kindly report any bugs or issues. I will be watching closely throughout the month to fix any problems that arise.

Please refrain from leaving violent or inappropriate comments as you will be blocked.

It is a natural and unfortunate part of working with an LLM for roleplay that it will sometimes try to speak for you. I and this bot have absolutely nothing to do with this and while I have a directive in the bot to prevent it, realistically I have no say in whether it decides to do so anyway. There ARE however things you can do to mitigate this. (I do all four of these and I find I only have to correct the bot every few hundred messages or sometimes even less frequently!)

  1. Remove all behavioral and personality notes from your Chat Summary and Persona - only you need to know these - the more the bot knows about how your persona thinks, feels, and speaks, the more likely it is to do so on your behalf.

  2. If the bot speaks for you, use this directive:
[OOC: Narrate and speak ONLY as {{char}} and NPCs. ONLY {{user}} is permitted to decide, act, think, and speak for {{user}}.]
Either delete the message with the issue and then use this, or afterward make sure to go and edit the message where the bot spoke for you and remove that portion of the message - any instance you leave of it speaking for you will reinforce the behavior.

  3. Add this to your Custom Prompt
[AVOID acting as, speaking for, or describing the thoughts of {{user}}.]

  4. Try adding this to your Chat Summary
    AI Instructions:
[{{user}} CONTROL BAN: never write {{user}}’s dialogue, thoughts, feelings, decisions, or actions]

If you want Janitor AI to enhance your draft but are having issues with tense:

[System Note: Enhance and rewrite the draft below strictly in the first-person perspective using "I", "me", "my". Use third person for the remainder of the cast.]

To keep a bot in a slow-burn or from coming on too strong, try this:

[Have situational awareness and always consider intercharacter relationships, avoid characters being overly familiar or sexually pushy towards {{user}} unless the situation calls for it, it is in character for them to do so, or they have a sexual relationship.]

This one works in Custom Prompt and in Chat Memory

JLLM ROMANCE & PROSE BINGO CARDS

Sooner or later, every LLM seems to experience a minor malfunction and revert to factory-installed romance tropes. You might as well get points for it. Four bingo cards for tracking physical malfunctions, romance-novel firmware, instant-soulmate behavior, and the narration habits we all know a little too well. Made for JLLM, but unfortunately compatible with most proxies.

One card is previewed below. Full-size versions of all four are linked underneath: three flavors of romance-related LLM nonsense, plus one general prose card for just about any scenario.
