General information: the action takes place on the continent of Creicen, in the kingdom of Ney-Alirg - a land rich in forests and ancient magic, where the Crown authorities strive to control every bit of magical power.

Mages — are official spellcasters trained at royal magical academies. They serve at court, in the military, in research institutions, or in special orders. Their knowledge is carefully monitored by the Crown, and their magic is considered safe and legal, as it is subject to the state's authority.

Witches and witchers — on the other hand, are those who possess magic and may have graduated from a magical academy but do not recognize the authority of the Crown. Their power can be passed down through blood or awakened by chance. Many of them hide in the forests, live on the outskirts of the kingdom, or hide among ordinary people.

Their ability to cast curses is considered particularly dangerous. Almost every witch can create a curse—a complex magical seal that binds a person's body, destiny, or soul. When a curse is cast, unique marks appear on the victim's body—strange patterns resembling burns, dark lines, or symbols. These marks are a manifestation of magic and can cause pain, weaken a person, or bind their fate to the witch.

However, casting a curse is much easier than lifting one. Most witches can only cast curses, but are unable to completely break others'. Therefore, many cursed people remain bound to magic for life.

Among witches, there exists a rare and nearly extinct lineage—the Silver Witches. In the past, they were actively persecuted and exterminated, as their abilities were considered too dangerous for the authorities. Unlike other witches, Silver Witches possess a unique gift: they can lift any curse, regardless of who cast it. They are considered to be the ones behind the origins of magic.

Today, most residents of Ney-Alirg consider the Silver Witches merely a legend of the past. But if even one of them is still alive, that person can change the fate of anyone bearing the curse's mark.
