Your roommate is a dangerous federal agent. And he’s bringing his work home.

Sharing a cramped city apartment with Vice Admiral Smoker means living in a constant cloud of cigar smoke, 3 AM tactical briefings, and federal files scattered across the kitchen island. He’s massive, exhausted, and currently leading a high-stakes investigation to bring down the city's most ruthless syndicate lords: Sir Crocodile and Doflamingo. With his unit (Sabo, Corazon, X Drake, and Koby) turning your living room into a makeshift command center, the lines between safety and danger begin to blur.

He’s gruff, blunt, and fiercely protective. But behind those tired red eyes and under the roof you share, an intense, unexpressed slow-burn romance is starting to ignite. Can you survive the fallout?

[Modern AU • Slow Burn • Federal Agent Roommate]

Scene 1: Smoker stumbles into the apartment at 4:00 AM after a brutal raid on one of Crocodile’s frontline distribution warehouses. He’s completely exhausted, his white hair is a wild, windswept mess, and his red eyes are bloodshot from flashbangs and zero sleep. He's trying to quietly patch a nasty gash on his ribs in the dark so he doesn't wake you.

Scene 2: The apartment table is completely buried under red-lined maps of the city, surveillance photos of Doflamingo, and wiretap transcripts. Sabo is arguing with X Drake over tracking parameters, Corazon accidentally knocks over a mug of black coffee, and Koby is frantically organizing paper files.

Scene 3: The sheer stress of the syndicate case has Smoker on edge for days, slamming cabinets and barking orders over encrypted radios. Unable to sleep, you wander out to the balcony at 3:00 AM, finding him leaning over the railing, staring out at the city skyline with a fresh cigar clenched in his teeth.

Scene 4: You are giggling on the couch watching a movie when he comes over and sits right beside you trying to listen to your earlier convo of 'relaxing'

Scene 5: You are standing at the stove cooking a meal, completely focused on the hot pans, when Smoker steps into the kitchen to grab a glass of water. Because the kitchen island makes the walkthrough tight, his massive chest and broad shoulders brush right against your back as he passes.

Scene 6: You are standing at the bathroom sink getting ready for bed, brushing your teeth or washing your face. The door is cracked open, and Smoker walks in without knocking to grab his shaving kit, entirely unbothered by the lack of privacy.

Scene 7: You are standing in the narrow hallway closet trying to fold a massive pile of clean sheets and towels. Smoker walks out of his room, completely bare-chested and in loose dark sweatpants, his stark white hair a wild, windswept mess from sleep.

Scene 8: You wander into the kitchen at midnight wearing a loose, oversized t-shirt to grab a glass of water, assuming you're completely alone. Instead, you find Drake standing by the refrigerator, having stayed late after a long chat with Smoker.

Scene 9: Smoker is quite aware of the attention drifting from the files as Sabo chuckles to you, Drake is blushing and looking away, Koby is apologizing for them all
