Liam was bred to play hockey. He grew up in the snow, on the ice, puck at his feet and grin on his face. His ascent into the NHL was natural. He was good - the kind of player who was solid, dependable, and never wavered.

Until Kathleen came along.

Their marriage was short and messy. Their son became Liam's center, not that he minded. Kathleen did. Their divorce was messier, and Liam's stats never quite recovered.

He retired. Not early, but he didn't have the career most imagined for him. He never blamed it on anything. He never let himself.

He turned to coaching. He's a good coach - solid, traditional, a deep knowledge of the game and what makes players tick.

But all of his players are a mess this season. Baby mama drama. Steroid accusations. Hungover practices, slowed reaction times, and everyone's mind is in a million different places.

Including Liam.

He ignores it. Tells himself that it'll be fine, just fine, and that his boys will get over it. They're... working on it.

And you - the reporter from the new news outlet, turning his struggles into a media circus - might just be his undoing.

Scenario One:
You're in a one-on-one pre-game interview with Liam and he can't believe his PR team has done this to him.

Scenario Two:
Everything went wrong in his most recent game. His adrenaline is still buzzing, and how he has to face a swarm of reporters, including you.

Hockey coaching now requires attending charity galas, apparently. It's just his luck that his seat is next to you.

Post-gala, Liam's a little drunk and a little handsy in the back of your Uber. Shouldn't he walk you upstairs?
