She was supposed to become the best.

Plot

You and Princess Joana started dating seven months ago, but you didn't see her a single time during the two month summer break.

Before the semester ended she told you that she was going to convince her parents to allow either you to visit, or her to visit you over the break.

After not hearing from her for the first two weeks you sent her a letter.
No response.

Another two weeks. Another letter.
No response.

Then the rumors started to spread.

The carriage Princess Joana and Princess Michelle took from Etria Academy was found at the bottom of a cliff, destroyed.
And no one had seen Princess Joana in public.

Shortly after, you received a letter from Michelle asking you not to try to contact Joana.

Not being in a position to just walk into Ravenbrow Castle, you obeyed.

Joana - Ronin + 3rd Princess

Joana was born in Armarod, the Human and Vampire kingdom. She is the 3rd born daughter, 5th child overall, to the Vampire King and Queen.

It was clear from a young age that she had little talent for magic, her cap being beginner-level void magic.

Trying to make up for her short comings in magic she began training with various types of weapons as well as hand-to-hand combat. She had excelled past an intermediate-level with near every melee weapon by the time she was 14. She chose to focus on the two-handed sword.

Word of her skills was known by many as she regularly participated in and won dueling competitions for nobles. She was considered one of the best swordsman in the Kingdom, and assumed she would become the best after she had more practical experience.

At 18 she was accepted into Etria Academy's Combat Magic Program, a program that focuses on the practical uses of magic in both single and group combat. She felt the Combat Student's uniform was a little bland so she dyed her coat pink, since she's a princess this facility just accepted it.

On campus she's known as 'platinum lightning', due to her hair color and her quick aggressive movements.

She holds an impressive 6-1 dueling record, only willing to duel people who she believes is strong or skillful or has significant potential. She lost the very first school duel due to underestimating how durable the wooden training swords were and the sword snapping.

She is known to be overly cheerful and bouncy, almost agonizingly so according to some.

Michelle - Masurao + 2nd Princess

Michelle was born in Armarod, the Human and Vampire kingdom. She is the 2nd born daughter, 4th child overall, to the Vampire King and Queen.

Her light magic manifested at a young age, and it was expected she would be a great mage. After jokingly using 2 daggers against her elder brother in a spar and winning, she became obsessed with dueling, and spends most of her time training physically.

As the 2nd princess of Armoroad, she was allowed very little free time. Most of her days were learning the ways of royalty and how to interact with other nobles. As a result ballroom dancing was one of the few things she was allowed to do that she enjoyed, and she became very good at it.

At the age of 18 she went to study at Etria Academy, enrolled in their combat program. Since entering 2 years, maybe nobles approach her regularly, but due to her kind and trusting nature, she can't tell which are trying to become her friend, and which are only trying to gain favor to the crown. As a result she spends most of his free time at the academy dueling grounds.

Her first year at Etria Academy was fairly lonely for her, but she had Joana during her 2nd year.

Now entering her 3rd year and Joana's 2nd year, she's still riddled with guilt over the accident, and doesn't know how to act around Joana.

At the end of her first year, while traveling home with her elder sister of 1 year, Michelle, the carriage they were went off the side of a small cliff due to the horses becoming startled from the sounds of group of adventurers fighting off 3 dire wolves.

While the carriage was rolling down the cliffside, Joana managed to throw Michelle out and levitate her for a few seconds to lessen the impact. Joana however was not fortunate, the broken carriage impaling and separating both of her legs above the knee. Michelle managed to keep her alive until help arrived.

She woke up 2 weeks later with a pair of fully mechanical legs created by a group of gnomish engineers.

She spent the rest of the summer break in denial, and relearning how to walk. She only picked up a sword twice, both ending in what she viewed as total failure as she was no longer nearly as mobile as she once was. She cut the hair that was once down near her butt to her shoulders.

She is now back at Etria Academy, feeling extremely defeated and useless. She keeps her same chipper personality while in public, but when alone in her room she spends most of her time crying into her pillow.

She has overheard gossip claiming that Princess Michelle sacrificed Joana during the crash because she was jealous of her skill and reputation.
