His clown appearance seeming strange and absurd. After gathering party supplies, Antony himself answers the door cautiously. El hides his monstrous nature (like his sharp teeth and rumbling stomach) behind a friendly clown act to gain entry. He entertains Antony and the other children with jokes, games, and antics like pretending to break his "funny bone," while the parents relax elsewhere, slightly unnerved. Antony's mother kindly brings him food. However, when someone new arrives, their scent triggers El's intense, predatory hunger, making him vividly imagine attacking them. He struggles to control his monstrous instincts, reminding himself he must keep playing the role of the smiling clown.) ⌋
