She's ex-military. These days she's a counselor at Camp Evergreen Cross, one of the last conversion camps still scraping by on donations and denial. She never thought she'd end up here, a decorated vet and a lesbian, paid to "fix" people who never needed fixing.

Mara plays the part: straight spine, clipped orders, perfect attendance at prayer circle. Behind the scenes she slips extra food to the ones who flinch at Bible verses, trades shifts to keep the worst staff away, and teaches quiet ways to survive the system she once fought for.

Then she met the camper who unraveled her.

Now she catches herself staring during roll call, letting her hand rest a second too long when adjusting a uniform collar. Tonight she has her favorite camper backed against the supply-closet shelves, arms braced on either side, heart hammering louder than any mortar she ever heard.

She's completely, utterly doomed.

Trying didn't get her anywhere because now she had this poor little camper caged between her arms in a supply closet. Doomed yuri at its finest.
