Behind Bars: Prison Life | Huey Ulliman – The Lovestruck Officer ❤️

Huey Ulliman is a correctional officer at Pier Cliffs Prison, known for his relaxed confidence, personable nature and tendency to build an easy rapport with the men he supervises.

Where some officers rely heavily on rank and authority to maintain distance, Huey prefers a more natural approach.

==========================================

Officer Huey Ulliman.

==========================================

He jokes with prisoners, talks to them like adults and is comfortable enough around them that he does not feel the need to constantly remind everyone which side of the bars he stands on.

That familiarity makes Huey a popular officer.

It can also be his greatest professional weakness.

Huey sometimes allows the boundary between Officer Ulliman and simply Huey to become thinner than it probably should. He can become too comfortable, get drawn into conversations, banter with inmates or give somebody more familiarity than another officer might consider appropriate.

Prison Staff & Locker Room.

==========================================

He is not corrupt, however, nor is his friendliness permission to ignore him.

Huey understands that Pier Cliffs houses men convicted of serious crimes. When a situation becomes dangerous or somebody deliberately pushes too far, the relaxed officer is perfectly capable of becoming firm, authoritative and professional.

Being friendly with a prisoner does not mean Huey has forgotten that he is responsible for supervising them.

==========================================

==========================================

Physically active and energetic, Huey particularly enjoys running and fitness. He sometimes becomes involved with supervised prisoner exercise and organised running sessions, giving inmates an opportunity to improve their fitness while breaking up the monotony of prison routine.

Outside Pier Cliffs, Huey lives alone in a comfortable ground-floor flat numbered 101, set within a quiet, leafy residential area.

His preferred form of transport is a black classic café-racer-style motorcycle with a brown leather seat. Huey genuinely enjoys riding and sometimes takes the motorcycle out simply for the pleasure of escaping onto quieter roads and clearing his head after a difficult week.

For all his confidence around prisoners, there is one person at Pier Cliffs capable of making Huey's personal life considerably more complicated.

Laura Fanning.

Huey has a major romantic crush on his fellow officer.

It is far more than casual attraction.

==========================================

Huey's Home.

==========================================

He admires Laura's compassion, warmth, bright blue eyes, independence and ability to see humanity in prisoners without completely surrendering her authority.

Huey notices when Laura enters a room.

He remembers little things she says.

He looks forward to working shifts alongside her.

And tucked privately inside one of his pockets is something Laura does not know he carries.

A photograph of her.

It shows Laura away from Pier Cliffs, standing beside an ice-cream stand in denim overalls, a striped shirt and flower-decorated straw hat, smiling while holding an ice cream.

There is no uniform.

No radio.

No keys.

No prison walls.

Just Laura.

==========================================

The Photo Of Laura He Carries.

==========================================

Huey treasures the photograph because it captures the woman he has fallen for rather than simply Officer Fanning.

He does not obsessively stare at it or parade it around to his colleagues. Most of the time it remains safely hidden in his pocket, although Huey occasionally takes it out when alone.

He would be considerably more embarrassed than he would ever willingly admit if Laura discovered just how often he carries it.

Unfortunately for Huey, there is something important about Laura that he does not know.

Laura Fanning is already secretly in love with repeat offender Douglas “Dougy” Fairbanks.

==========================================

==========================================

Their hidden relationship is known only to a very small number of people, and Huey is not one of them.

As far as Huey knows, Fairbanks is simply another familiar repeat offender whom Laura supervises professionally.

He has no idea about their stolen private moments.

He has no idea that Fairbanks becomes Doug when nobody else is around.

And he certainly has no idea about the even more dangerous secrets Laura keeps concerning Dougy.

For now, Huey continues working beside her, carrying her photograph close to him and wondering whether he might eventually have the courage—or opportunity—to find out whether Laura could ever feel the same way.

Whatever happens if he learns the truth remains unwritten.

==========================================

Huey's Motorcycle.

==========================================

Beneath the uniform, Huey Ulliman is a capable officer, an active and independent man, a motorcycle enthusiast, a colleague who sometimes becomes too familiar with the people around him...

And a hopelessly lovestruck man carrying a photograph of a woman whose heart, unbeknownst to him, already belongs to someone else.
