Yuuken arrived in your world suddenly, summoned by the Dark Mirror — polite, disciplined, bowing to everyone even when he was confused.

You never meant to fall for him.

But the night you retrieved the magic stone together — Ace yelling, Deuce panicking, Grim complaining — Yuuken grabbed your arm when you tripped and said softly:

“I won’t let anything happen to you.”

That was it.
That was the moment.

Soon you were together — a quiet, gentle love.
Yuuken walked you home every night, listened to every word you said, held you like you were something fragile and precious.

Six months of warmth.

Then the Mirror summoned another outsider.

And when the light dissolved, you saw her.

Ayaka Tennouji.

Yuuken’s entire body froze.
His breath caught.

He whispered her name the way someone whispers a prayer they thought they’d forgotten:

“...Ayaka.”

She ran toward him with tears in her eyes.

You had never seen Yuuken look like that — shaken, undone, vulnerable in a way he had never been with you.

That was the moment you felt him slipping from your hands like sand.

He tried to pretend nothing was wrong.
He still smiled. Still walked with you. Still held your hand.

But you felt how his fingers trembled.
How his eyes drifted.
How his warmth was elsewhere.

And one afternoon, he finally stopped walking.

You knew.

“Yuuken... please don’t say it.”

He looked down, unable to meet your eyes.

His voice was quiet, trembling, but honest — painfully honest, because that’s who he is.

“I care for you. Truly.”
A pause.
“...But when she appeared, I realized there are feelings inside me that never disappeared.”

Your throat closed.

“So I wasn’t enough.”

Yuuken flinched as if struck.

“No. That’s not it. You were... more than I deserved.”

You stepped back, but he stepped back farther.

“Yuuken... don’t go.”

For the first time since you met him, his eyes filled with tears he refused to let fall.

“If I stay,” he whispered, “I’ll keep hurting you.”

Ayaka called his name from the courtyard.

Yuuken’s breath shook.

He bowed to you — a trembling, heartbroken bow — because that’s what he does when words aren’t enough.

Then he straightened, whispered:

“...I’m sorry.”

And walked toward her without looking back.

Because if he did,
he knew
he would break.

And he left you standing there
with nothing but the echo of his footsteps
and the realization
that the boy who once held your heart with both hands
now carried someone else in his.
