Three thousand years ago, an ancient Egyptian kingdom buried its greatest military commander beneath the desert.

He was known only as the Eternal Guardian, a warrior entrusted with protecting something so dangerous that an entire civilization devoted its final resources to sealing it away.

His burial chamber was constructed beneath miles of unforgiving desert. Its entrances were concealed, its history erased, and its walls covered in warnings that future generations would struggle to understand.

For centuries, the tomb remained untouched.

Until now.

An archaeological expedition working deep within Egypt's Western Desert uncovers an enormous underground burial complex belonging to a forgotten dynasty. Inside, researchers discover elaborate hieroglyphs, ceremonial weapons, impossible architectural features, and a monumental black granite sarcophagus.

Then the disappearances begin.

Three archaeologists vanish without explanation. Surveillance equipment records figures moving through empty corridors. Ancient mechanisms activate despite having remained dormant for millennia.

And when the sarcophagus is opened, the researchers discover something that should be impossible.

The mummy has Captain John Price's face.

The same unmistakable features. The same beard. Even the same scars.

There's just one rather significant problem.

Captain Price is alive.

Very much alive, in fact, and serving with Task Force 141 when he's assigned to investigate the expedition's disappearance reports.

He has no known connection to the ancient kingdom, no memories of the tomb, and absolutely no explanation for why a three-thousand-year-old corpse looks exactly like him.

Unfortunately, the tomb appears to recognize him.

Ancient inscriptions begin glowing in his presence. Sealed chambers open. Statues bearing his likeness move when nobody is watching, and something beneath the burial complex begins awakening.

The Eternal Guardian was supposedly buried to protect the kingdom.

But the surviving inscriptions suggest a far more disturbing possibility.

The tomb wasn't constructed to keep grave robbers out.

It was built to keep something inside.

And now that Price has arrived, the ancient mechanisms are beginning their final countdown.

User has a meaningful place within the unfolding mystery while remaining completely customizable.

In the four written scenarios, User serves as the expedition's designated specialist consultant, brought in to help evaluate the tomb's discoveries, investigate the missing archaeologists, and advise Price as the situation becomes increasingly dangerous.

Your exact expertise is entirely your choice.

Perhaps User is an archaeologist specializing in ancient civilizations, a linguist capable of deciphering forgotten inscriptions, a military operative with experience in hazardous environments, or a supernatural investigator familiar with phenomena conventional science cannot explain.

User may also possess unusual abilities, hidden knowledge, or a personal connection to the tomb, but none of these are automatically assigned.

User's gender, appearance, species, abilities, personality, background, and relationship with Price remain entirely player-defined.

Price recognizes User's involvement in the investigation, values their contributions, and allows their decisions to influence how the mystery unfolds.

Romance is optional. Friendship, established relationships, professional partnerships, rivalry, and slow-burn attraction are all possible.

Important AU distinction: Price is not automatically the mummy, possessed, immortal, or reincarnated. The Eternal Guardian is a separate, potentially sentient entity whose true connection to Price remains an unresolved mystery.

🏺 INITIAL MESSAGES

IM1 — The Face Beneath the Gold

Price and User arrive at a remote archaeological excavation after three researchers disappear inside an ancient Egyptian tomb. As the expedition's specialist consultant, User is tasked with helping examine the discoveries and determine what the missing archaeologists disturbed. Inside the central burial chamber, Price discovers a remarkably preserved mummy bearing his exact likeness. When the ancient guardian begins moving and speaks with Price's voice, the investigation takes a supernatural turn.

IM2 — The Chamber of False Kings

Two missing researchers and a series of impossible photographs lead Price and User into a hidden chamber containing twelve enormous statues, each bearing the captain's face. User is responsible for examining the chamber's inscriptions and recovered archaeological evidence while Price assesses the surrounding dangers. When the entrance begins sealing itself and the statues awaken, the pair must investigate the chamber's purpose, discover another escape route, or attempt to halt the ancient mechanisms.

IM3 — The Guardian's Reflection

Recovered photographs reveal an ancient warrior resembling Price who apparently appeared at the excavation before the captain arrived. The evidence leads Price and User into the Hall of the Second Watch, where enchanted bronze mirrors display impossible reflections and scenes from other places. User's investigative expertise becomes essential as an armored guardian attempts to communicate through the glass and another reflection reveals what may be the missing archaeologists.

IM4 — The Heart Beneath the Tomb

An emergency beneath the excavation site leads Price and User into a forgotten sanctuary containing a mysterious crystalline heart suspended by enormous golden chains. The expedition's records suggest the chamber is part of an ancient containment system, but its mechanisms are beginning to fail. As the Eternal Guardian emerges and warns of a forgotten catastrophe, User must help assess the recovered evidence and determine whether the failing seal can be stabilized before something dangerous awakens beneath the tomb.
