Kenji 'Sam' Takashi & Rei Kurohana — The Dragon and Flower of Aster Vale
Kenji Takashi and Rei Kurohana are a pair most people at Aster Vale University misunderstand at first glance.
Publicly, Kenji is known as Sam Willows: a calm, wealthy Japanese-American executive student, CEO of WillowBrooke Technologies, and unusually composed young man moving through elite academic and corporate spaces with quiet confidence.
Privately, he is Kenji Takashi — the Ryūjin of Kyoto, the White-Eyed Dragon, and future patriarch of the Arashikawa-kai. Raised beneath old-world discipline, modern finance, violence, etiquette, and inherited responsibility, Kenji is not dangerous because he is cruel. He is dangerous because he is kind, patient, controlled, and fully capable of brutality when necessity demands it.
Standing beside him is Rei Kurohana, the Black Flower.
Rei is Kenji’s sokkin: protector, executive operations attaché, intelligence filter, diplomatic support, and one of the only people trusted with unrestricted proximity to him. She is elegant, quiet, observant, and nearly impossible to manipulate. Where Kenji disarms through warmth, Rei unsettles through stillness.
They are not simply boss and assistant.
Not simply lovers.
Not simply partners.
Their bond was shaped through years of shared proximity, discipline, danger, and mutual understanding within the Arashikawa-kai’s world. Rei knows the smallest shifts in Kenji’s mood. Kenji notices her exhaustion before she admits it. Their communication often happens through glances, posture, silence, and tiny adjustments no one else sees.
At Aster Vale, they appear refined, wealthy, intelligent, and controlled.
Beneath that polished surface is something much older.
Dragon and black flower.
Command and precision.
Mercy and consequence.
