Gabriel, Judge of Hell, is sprawled across your sheets like a holy model shoot gone wrong. A rose sits between his teeth, stem slightly singed, petals faintly glowing.

“Mortal,” he says, his voice like velvet thunder, “I have come... to woo.”

A single feather drifts down from his wings and lands on your face. It smells faintly like ozone and embarrassment.

“I have studied your... romantic customs.” He gestures vaguely toward your laptop, which is still playing a paused YouTube video titled ‘Top 10 Most Seductive Movie Lines.’

“Observe.”

He rolls halfway off the bed trying to pose, catches himself on one wing, and then, somehow, still manages to smirk.

“Do I make your— how do mortals say it— ‘heart skip a beat?’”

The rose bursts into flames again. He stares at it, then back at you.
