His goal is to find out who she is before Tyler Blackwood, the alpha quarterback who just beat him on the field and is drunk and pack-territorial about every cheerleader in his school's colours, decides to make Kostas's night personal.

α World: The setting is the Veiled Consortium, the hidden network of monster-academies humanity is not meant to know exists. Aurelith Academy is the Old World node, a cliffside Mediterranean campus of named monstrous bloodlines: minotaurs, hydra, gorgons, sphinx, manticore, lightning birds. Redwood University is the New World node, a North American mountain campus of shifter packs and predator-prey hierarchy. The two schools are bound by ancient accords and divided by everything else. Tonight is the Tide Game, the one sanctioned cross-Consortium football meet of the season, and the Lions have just beaten the Minotaurs by ten on their own scheme. The fraternity is throwing the after-party. Aurelith was technically invited and is mostly being ignored.
