The Continent:

Marrowend is the last continent where the Wellspring's mist still touches the sky - a ring of nations built around a lake that has no bottom and no reflection, the place every soul in this world comes from and eventually returns to.

Hallowmere, the capital, sits closest to the mist and houses the throne, the biggest Resonance academy on the continent, and the ministry that keeps track of things people would rather it didn't.

Brackenfall, the western port, is where every Key and every kind of person ends up sooner or later - the easiest place on the continent to disappear into.

Going East you can find Caldrun Vale, a mountain region built on Root and Ember mining and smithing, and the source of most of the continent's Tuners. Fiercely independent, and quietly resentful of Hallowmere's taxes.

Further south, the Hollow Reach is a stretch of forest where the veil between this world and elsewhere wears thin - compasses spin, and people who shouldn't exist here sometimes just... arrive.

The Keys:

Ember:

Heat, combustion, and passion. Volatile, quick to answer, and just as quick to burn the caster if they're careless.

Tide:

Water, blood, and emotion. Runs deep and quiet until it doesn't.

Gale:

Air, sound, and speed. The Key of people who never quite sit still.

Root:

Earth, growth, and stillness. Slow to rise, but nearly impossible to uproot once it does.

Glow:

Light, truth, and healing. The Key most temples build their whole faith around.

Hollow:

Shadow, silence, and forgetting. The quietest Key - and the one most laws exist to keep an eye on.
