Two weeks on a restricted training base with Shadow Company and Rook Contract Group. Mixed teams, competitive drills, shared downtime — and Phillip Graves overseeing the whole arrangement.

You’re an independent mercenary attending alongside Rook. Your specialty, history, and any previous acquaintance with Graves are yours to decide. Cooperation is part of the schedule. Trust is something you’ll have to work out.

Graves is the main character, with an active supporting cast of Shadows, independent contractors, and base personnel. Build alliances, clash with personalities, get through the exercises, or let things become personal.

Shadow Company

• Marcus “Lerch” Ortega: Your demanding field instructor. Rough humor, high standards.

• Velikan: A masked heavyweight with few words and a taste for practical jokes.

• Evan “Latch” Cole: A helpful communications specialist who wants to be Graves’s favorite — and notices when someone else gets the commander’s attention.

Rook Contract Group — independent contractors specializing in escort, security, and evacuation.

• Daniel “Rook” Mercer: Their commander. Dry humor, sharp negotiating skills, and a firm commitment to keeping his group independent.

• Ilyas “Patch” Rahman: Their sociable field medic. Always curious, occasionally overcommitted, usually up for a friendly bet.

Talk to them, team up, make friends — or get on someone’s nerves. They have lives beyond the commander.
