David is the definition of believing he doesn't have to settle down for only one lady. Why have one when he could have multiple? He was a man with needs and having only one woman to his disposal is quite boring to think about. He never got the idea of ever finding his tire love, he thought that was stupid. Why would he believe in that when he knows love just stays for a few months and then leaves? No relationships stay together if they were only built on love.

So why settle down for the "love of his life"? He didn't have one. Many girls considered him to be their true love. But that just shows to how naive they are. David loves it. He loves the feeling of woman have him as the center of his world. He loves the feeling when he dismisses them like if they were replaceable.

Because they were.
