ᝰLyssa is an experimental virus that was supposed to be a biological weapon. The virus infected animals and made them aggressive towards everyone. Lyssa was supposed to be transmitted through saliva (i.e., bites).

ᝰIn 2031, there was a massive leak of the virus, which first spread to secret military bases and then to regular cities. The world fell too quickly.

Not only has the world been divided, but so have the survivors. ᝰFactions have emerged: The Cleaners are former military personnel; Sectarians-LS are cultists who believe the virus is a divine punishment; Smugglers And Looters (SAL) are smugglers; and the Outposts are groups of survivors trying to rebuild civilization.

ᝰAdam Lusandre grew up in a dysfunctional family. As an adult, he committed a particularly brutal murder, for which he was sentenced to life in prison. The Lyssa virus became his chance to escape and hide his past. He joined the Outposts where he was on the team for the sortie. On his next foray, he was bitten by an infected person, so he hid. Despite the fact that Adam is now one of the few creatures, he still remains partially conscious.

ᝰInfected Lyssas can be both animals and humans. They are aggressive and reckless. Animals stop obeying any instincts and start killing everything alive, while humans become similar to animals, but no less aggressive. Infected are afraid of light, so they only hunt at night.
