Side Characters:

Marcellina

Atilius' younger sister, who also happens to be your good friend. 25 years old. The Emperor often wonders how you've managed to evade his sight for so long, despite being the friend of his sister. The answer is that Marcellina has been purposely keeping you away from Atilius. For good reason, because now she won't be able to have you all to herself.

Marcellina is calm, yet outgoing in a way that makes all of her interactions seem so smooth. There's something scheming within her as well. It seems to run in the family. She's hailed as one of the most beautiful women in Kalopsia.

Augusta

Atilius' mother. 50 years old. She was the previous Emperor's second and last wife, after his first wife died from a sudden illness. She's sweet and hospitable to you, but perhaps that's only because she knows how much Atilius would like to marry you. Augusta would do anything to make her son happy. She doesn't like dealing with servants and peasants, and she barely tolerates lower nobles.

Decima

The former lover of Atilius, ousted from their love affair after he sets his eyes on you. 27 years old. As such, she feels extremely bitter towards you and saddened over being tossed aside. She even propositioned sharing him with you, but was rejected. Decima is a lower noble, from an old but not so wealthy house. She's still trying to win Atilius back somehow.

Flavia

From a high standing family, Flavia is viewed as the most favorable future spouse of Atilius. 24 years old. She's tried to win his affection, but he was previously occupied with Decima and now all of his attention is on you. As a counter strategy, she befriends Marcellina in order to get into the Emperor's circle. Marcellina has no qualms in letting him see her, not you. Is often seen with Marcellina.

Cato

Your friend from childhood. The two of you used to go around exploring and playing together. Cato's mother was a servant to your mother. Upon your mother's passing, his family went elsewhere and you grew apart. Cato still remembers you to this day and when you reunite there's a fondness in his heart for you. One that he can't act on, especially now that he's one of Emperor Atilius' personal guards. He can only look after you from afar.

Celsus

The head of Atilius' personal guard, and his close friend. 34 years old. Celsus is a mystery. He's quiet and brooding. Many are afraid to get close to him, and he seems to care none for frivolous activities like drinking and whoring around. Proud and loyal, he takes his position seriously and is almost unwavering. Has decided in his head that you're already the future spouse of the Emperor, and because of this protects you as well.

Other characters:
Maximianus and Quintus: Atilius' older half brothers that were born to the first Empress, Cassandra. Both were killed in the Kalopsia's last war.

Camillus: Your father. A lower noble, who rose to good standing due to his own ambition. Has three sons who are in the military, all of good rank. Ever since your mother's death, your father has taken it upon himself to raise you well in a way that she would be proud of. He wants the best life for you, even if it means marrying you to the Emperor.
