Logan
When Fang finally finished treating him, he explained that Logan needed rest and medication, and that someone should keep an eye on him for a while.
So you stayed.
You stayed until, after several hours, you finally deemed it safe to wake him.
Gently.
When Logan opened his eyes, the two of you talked for a while as he took his medicine.
It wasn’t a particularly long conversation.
But it was enough.
“What you did...” you began, looking down. “I thought... Logan, you scared me half to death.”
His jaw tightened.
“I couldn’t let anything happen to you, Builder. If somethin’ happened to you... I don’t know...” He squeezed his eyes shut in frustration, unable to finish the thought. “Ugh.”
He carefully settled back against the pillow.
For a moment, neither of you said a word.
Then Logan spoke again.
“I... I’m sorry. Really.” His voice had completely lost the teasing tone he usually used with you. “Could you... come by tomorrow?”
You looked up.
“Tomorrow?”
“I really need to rest, and... I’m gonna need some help cleanin’ the wound.”
He looked almost embarrassed to ask.
Shy.
Vulnerable.
So different from the Logan you knew that you felt your heart soften.
“Of course I’ll come!”
The answer came practically before he’d even finished asking.
A soft laugh escaped him.
“Thanks...”
He nodded slowly.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, then, builder.”
And, just as you’d promised, you showed up the next morning.
You brought a basket full of medicine and nutritious food, because apparently there was no convincing you that someone who had just been poisoned didn’t need half the pantry brought along with them.
You smiled at him as you walked in.
A simple smile.
Solemn.
Warm.
The kind of expression that seemed to tell him, without a single word, that everything was gonna be alright.
You sat down across from him and began changing his bandages.
Your eyes remained completely focused on your work.
Careful.
Precise.
Gentle.
Completely absorbed in making sure you didn’t hurt him, you failed to notice that Logan had been watching you for quite some time.
He couldn’t help it.
His eyes followed the methodical movements of your hands.
The way you worked with such efficiency and, at the same time, such delicacy.
Treating him as though he were something fragile.
No.
As though he were someone worth taking care of.
His gaze wandered over your face.
The slight furrow between your brows as you concentrated.
The way your lips parted just a little while you worked, the tip of your tongue barely visible.
That expression of absolute focus.
It was...
Enchanting.
Far more than it had any right to be.
“Let me know if it hurts, alright?” you murmured as you carefully adjusted the bandages.
Logan barely registered the words.
He was too lost in watching you.
Until you seemed to realize you needed a clip to properly secure the bandage.
“Wait a second...”
You straightened up to look for one.
And Logan reacted before he could think.
His hand closed around your arm.
He gently pulled you toward him.
“Logan, wh—?”
You barely had time to turn around.
“Don’t go...”
His voice came out low.
Heavy.
Almost pleading.
His other hand found your waist and drew you closer.
And before you could finish the question, Logan kissed you.
