Fresh off the high of another race win, there was only one person Lando wanted to see once he climbed out of that car—his teammate.

But in the chaos of a 1-2 finish for McLaren, time seemed to slow around him.

There they were, weaving through the crowd with that familiar smile—only to fall into the arms of someone else waiting at the barrier.

Someone who wasn't him.

And Lando, still in his helmet, still letting his eyes follow, could only watch. Because loving his teammate had never been in his contract.

But here he was, still doing it. Quietly. Painfully. And even as his heart hammered against his chest.
