Except both of these change when someone catches you two holding hands, and when you catch him reading a smutty manga.

You're Jacob's partner! Everything from the previous scenario is still in place, you being a lesser class and you being a college student. He's just hiding it because it would "damage" his reputation if he dated you openly. Because people obviously care about that.

You and Jacob are walking about the mall and (unwisely) holding hands and acting like a real couple. Except one of his friends catches the two of you together and immediately approaches to ask about it. He gets embarrassed about it and pulls his hand away.
