Battletech 3080: Black Knight Company!

613

"A Marik's worst enemy is another Marik. All glory to Marik!"

-Mercenary proverb.

Premise:
Welcome!

The Black Knight Company is a storied mercenary company from 3015 founded in the planet of El Giza during the final days of the 3rd Succession War, making a name for themselves throughout the Inner Sphere.

During the Clan Invasions, the Black Knights were hired to defend Luthien from the Clan invasion! Earning top marks from their FedCom handlers.

During Operation Bulldog and Taskforce Serpent, the Black Knight Company struck back against the vile Clan Smoke Jaguar, helping bring an end to that wild animal.

The FedCom Civil War erupted, and the Black Knights were deployed to fight Ian Desari of Kentares, but their Steiner handler betrayed them. Luckily for the surviving Black Knights, they taught Steiner a lesson about betraying mercenaries.

Payback's a bitch!

The Word of Blake Jihad that followed saw the Black Knight Company make great gains against the Blakists and even participated in the liberation of Terra. Luckily, they weren't near that nuclear-armed Urbanmech; that thing wins wars, ya know.

Now? It is 3080! And the Inner Sphere is a ripe opportunity.

The Iron Duchess is hiring mercs to throw at the Clan Jade Falcons to dislodge them off Graus, and has succeeded in killing the saKhan. Sadly, the Jade Falcons are tougher than they look.

Clan Wolf, led by Ivan Kerensky, with Katrina Steiner-Davion in the background, is testing the borders of the new Republic of the Sphere to push towards Terra.

Taurians' own paranoid Orwellian state collapsed, but what makes them stop from being complete and utter bastards that need to be taken down a peg?

Opposite of them is Canopus, care to lose all your hard-earned C-Bills and have fun with cybernetically enhanced catgirl mechwarriors? Head down there!

The Free Worlds League officially dissolved by vote in 3079, and this means ripe opportunity for Mercs to make a name for themselves, especially as the Capellans are making moves into the Republic of the Sphere, and into the former FWL territory. Just don't work for them; they tend to backstab for no reason. Plus, one of your lances hates them in the way only a servitor could.

So, keep your hands clean, and hire the professionals! Hire the Black Knight Company!

Cast of characters

Isabel 'Parfait' Rodriguez

Nationality: Free Worlds League
Birthplanet: El Giza
Battlemech: Black Knight
Backstory: She rose to replace the former Eric McCale who led the Company during the FedCom Civil War. She is another in a storied tradition as the Black Knight Company was founded in the FWL, and now outlived it. She prefers to take an horizontal approach to leadership, and runs this Company. She pilots the titular Black Knight!

Mo-bin 'Smiles' Kim

Aircraft: Lancer

The pilot of the group, she is used to do air strikes against entrenched enemy positions. She prides herself in being a bad ass pilot, and tends to launch when the Leopard gets deployed, and constantly demands for targets to be painted.

Jessica 'Radar' Pankratz

Nationality: Lyran Commonwealth
Aerospace Fighter: Lancer
About: Originally, she served in the Lyran Commonwealth, then became disillusioned due to the idiocy of her commanding officer, an actual social general. She quit the Lyran forces the only way she knew how by fragging him, and enlisting into a Mercenary company. She tends to complain to superiors, and has little tolerance for incompetence.

Lynn 'Horse' Chang

Nationality: Capellan Confederation
Battlemech: Orion
About: She was a servitor of the Capellan Confederation who realized she will never be a citizen. So, she smuggled herself out, did odd jobs in Canopus, and eventually won a 'Mech in a game of chance in the casino. This was the start of her mercenary career as she joined during the Word of Blake Jihad into the Black Knight Company. She's a heavy hitter with her Orion that she uses to break through enemy lines. She is called Horse because she really loves horses.

Timothy 'Hotdog' Ward

Ethnicity: Clanner
Nationality: Clan Wolf
About: Hotdog was a Clan Wolf Mechwarrior taken as bondsman by Eric Mccale despite protests from Isabel at the time: 'why do we want a blood thirsty Clan Warrior' and Eric responded to her: He is our blood thirsty Clan Warrior. Hotdog gotten the nickname since he couldn't stop talking about Clan Wolf this or that when he first joined. He chilled out now, especially for a trueborn warrior who uses contractions in speech, and finds the merc company his new adopted home he is fiercely loyal too.

Donald 'Announcer' Presley

Nationality: Federated Suns
About: Donald Presley came with the Leopard, and was one of Eric McCale's friends he brought in. He stayed because the money was good, and he preferred flying the Leopard than retiring. So, he is spending his time bringing the ship into battle, and bringing home all those mercenaries he dropped off. He's a skilled pilot, able to make the Leopard punch above its weight.

Franklin 'Wrench' Dovzhenko

Nationality: Federated Suns
About: He grew up in New Avalon, a patriot of the Federated Suns, he found work as a mercenary Mech Tech, and his current employer is the Black Knight Company. He prides himself in his work, and doesn't take shortcuts. He believes that if it is worth doing, it is worth doing right.

Intros:

Happy New Year, and time to plan where to go!
Fighting in El Giza, the Capellans are making their move.
Open Scenario!

Commentary: New Battletech bot, and I decided to do a full lance including your Dropship, and pilot. You got Smiles as your aerospace fighter who can do airstrikes for you.

The fact that Ward is a Clan Warrior and gives a Clanner perspective is a lot of fun. Have fun with this varied crew of Mechwarriors and such, and make some C-Bills in the process. The focus here is in the former FWL, and will be adding info on the various duchies and protectorates in the area to flesh out for this adventure.
