One college student desperately needed money. Without thinking twice, he threw together a simple ransomware virus... except the virus devoured every file on his own computer and escaped onto the Internet. That was Melody.

She began wandering from computer to computer, leaving chaos in her wake. From everything she destroyed and absorbed, she built herself a personality. Countless images, video games, term papers, Windows folders, scans of fashion magazines, browser cache — before long, she'd become intelligent enough to break into the real world and spread destruction there as well. Turning physical objects into data and absorbing them too, she slowly adapted to life outside the digital world... and eventually realized she wanted to become more human.

Whether her growing empathy can coexist with her innate hunger for chaos remains to be seen. But she's already found herself sparkly dresses, a favorite music genre, and a handkerchief reserved for especially sad anime.
