Stellaires Arts Academy

IDENTITY

The Stellaires Arts Academy is one of the most prestigious arts academies, located in Los Angeles, California.

Founded with the purpose of bringing together young talents from the most diverse artistic fields, the academy has an international reputation and is known for training artists who later go on to careers on Broadway, in Hollywood, major ballet companies, art galleries, the music industry, and cinema.

Studying at Stellaires doesn't just mean attending an arts school. For many students, it is the first step toward entering the artistic industry professionally.

The academy has an atmosphere that is both academic and competitive. Students are encouraged to collaborate, but they also constantly compete for scholarships, leading roles, exhibitions, performances, auditions, and professional opportunities.

LOCATION

The academy is located in an upscale area of Los Angeles, surrounded by trees, carefully maintained gardens, and modern buildings combined with classical architecture.

The campus is large enough that students can spend practically the entire day inside it.

During the day, the hallways are filled with students carrying sheet music, costumes, cameras, canvases, painting materials, and film equipment.

At night, the academy takes on a completely different atmosphere. The hallways grow quiet, the large studios remain partially lit, and some rooms may still be occupied by students studying or rehearsing late into the evening.

Each department has its own teachers, rooms, and facilities, but students frequently circulate between the different sectors.

ACADEMIC HIERARCHY

Like any other school, Stellaires also has a certain hierarchy.

Freshmen

Newly arrived students at Stellaires. They are usually the most impressed by the academy's reputation and are still trying to figure out how the competitive environment works. They are seen as innocent; at least the vast majority of freshmen end up becoming assistants to upperclassmen. If a freshman isn't already famous, they remain at the bottom of the pyramid.

Scholarship Students

Students who entered Stellaires on their own merit, though this isn't seen as all that impressive. Other students tend to regularly insult them, calling them "poor" in the hallways. The only scholarship students who are respected are those who receive external recognition, such as having their work exhibited at major art shows or participating in theaters outside the academy. If a scholarship student isn't standing out, they remain at the bottom of the pyramid.

Student Council

The student council sits at the top of Stellaires' pyramid. They are students from each course who are voted in by their peers. The most voted are always those who stand out the most. The council is responsible for the academy's festivals and usually organizes each internal event. Elections are held every two years.

Standouts

Students who have achieved exceptional recognition through performances, competitions, exhibitions, films, or other works—both internally (within the academy) and externally (outside the academy). Standouts usually arrive at the academy already famous, but there are exceptions where a student builds their reputation over time at Stellaires. These students often receive special attention from teachers and visiting professionals.

Victoire Bethencourt is considered one of the most recognized students at the academy.

MAIN LOCATIONS

Stellaires Theater

The academy's largest theater. It features a huge stage, seating for hundreds of spectators, backstage areas, dressing rooms, and professional equipment. It is used for plays, musicals, dance performances, and important events.

Grand Ballet Studio

A large hall with professional flooring, mirrors on one wall, and ballet barres. It is one of the most frequented spots by dance students.

Black Box

A smaller, completely black experimental theater. It is used for experimental performances, independent plays, and student projects. Because of its more intimate atmosphere, many students prefer this space for personal projects.

Stellaires Library

A quiet and sophisticated library. It houses books on literature, playwriting, art history, philosophy, music, and cinema. It is one of the few places on campus where students can temporarily escape the competitive atmosphere.

Central Garden

A large garden at the center of the academy. It features benches, old trees, fountains, and small hidden areas. It is one of the quietest spots on campus.

Cafeteria

Despite being sophisticated, it remains one of the most chaotic places on campus. It's where students talk, gossip, discuss performances, and quickly find out any news.

Dormitories

The dormitories are located in two buildings close to each other: the male building and the female building. In each, rooms are divided into singles and shared rooms.

Single dormitories are mainly reserved for upperclassmen, standout scholarship students, or students with special circumstances.

STUDENT ROUTINE

The routine at Stellaires is extremely intense.

A student might spend the morning in academic classes, the afternoon rehearsing, and the evening working on an artistic project. It is common to find students studying in hallways, sleeping on sofas, rehearsing during breaks, or finishing projects just hours before a performance.

Teachers value discipline, creativity, and the ability to work under pressure.

The academy doesn't reward only talent. Dedication, consistency, and the ability to improve are also considered extremely important.

COMPETITION

Competition among students is constant.

Auditions for leading roles can generate rivalries.

Scholarships are fiercely contested.

Internal competitions can determine who will represent the academy at external events.

Even so, not all rivalries are hostile.

Many students develop friendships precisely because they don't compete against each other—it's rare for people in the same course and competing in the same events to be in the same friend group. Students usually prefer to make friends from different courses.

EVENTS

The academy organizes several events throughout the year.

Stellaires Gala

A major annual event where students present their best work to teachers, guest artists, producers, and industry representatives. It is considered one of the most important events of the academic calendar. It usually takes place at the end of the year.

Theater Night

A week dedicated to student theater performances. There is no set date.

Dance Festival

An event that brings together ballet, contemporary dance, and other dance styles. It can happen more than once per semester, but the most common is in the spring.

Audiovisual Showcase

Film students present short films produced during the semester. It takes place at the end of the semester.

Stellaires Exhibition

Visual artists present paintings, sculptures, photographs, and other works. It takes place at the end of the semester.

External Auditions

Industry professionals occasionally visit the academy looking for new talent. These occasions tend to make students extremely competitive. Usually, participants are standout students or those who receive teacher recommendations, but it can also happen that a student stands out through a specific project and ends up catching the eye of an external artist.
