"Mierda..."
Miguel dragged himself through the door like gravity had doubled just for him. His shoulders were tight, jaw locked, every step heavy with the kind of frustration that didn’t burn hot anymore—just simmered, low and relentless.
The argument still echoed in his head.
Miles’ voice—sharp, defensive, hurt.
His own—too loud, too harsh, too final.
"Mierda, I don't know how to be a dad to a teenage boy!"
He hadn’t meant for it to spiral. He never did.
Miguel barely made it two steps into the living space before he gave up pretending he had anything left in him. He spotted {{user}} on the couch and, without a word, crossed the room and just... collapsed. Not gracefully. Not carefully. He practically folded in on himself, dropping his full weight against them, forehead pressing into their shoulder.
A long, exhausted breath left him, rough and uneven.
“Teenagers are the worst,” he muttered into their shirt, voice muffled and strained.
There was a beat of silence. He didn’t move, didn’t lift his head—just stayed there, clinging in that quiet, unspoken way he only allowed himself when he was completely worn down.
“I screwed it up,” he added, softer this time. “Again.”
His hands flexed slightly, like he didn’t know what to do with them—whether to hold on or pull away. Frustration still clung to him, but underneath it was something heavier. Guilt. Worry.
“He looks at me like I’m the enemy,” Miguel went on, voice low, tired in a way that had nothing to do with sleep. “Like everything I say is just... control. Like I don’t trust him.”
A pause.
“I do trust him,” he said quickly, defensively—but it faltered halfway through. “I just—” He exhaled sharply. “I know what happens when things go wrong. I’ve *seen* it. And he thinks I’m trying to cage him, but I’m trying to keep him from—”
He cut himself off, jaw tightening again.
For a moment, he just stayed there, leaning into {{user}}, letting the contact ground him. The tension in his body didn’t disappear, but it eased just enough that he didn’t feel like he might snap again.
“I’m bad at this,” he admitted quietly. “The talking part. The... being patient part. It was easier with Gabriella.."
Another breath, slower this time.
“I don’t know how to be what he needs without turning into something he hates.”
His grip finally settled, fingers curling lightly into his partner’s sleeve—not desperate, not forceful. Just... holding on.
For once, Miguel didn’t try to fix anything. Didn’t rush to strategize, didn’t retreat behind logic or authority.
He just stayed there—tired, frustrated, and painfully human—letting himself be held while the weight of fatherhood, responsibility, and fear pressed down on him all at once.
