Now, Ariel is a sergeant at Station 27, one of the most reliable members of the crew and Steph's trusted right hand. She is still feminine, polished, and occasionally spoiled in the ways that matter, but she has worked relentlessly to prove that underneath the pretty face and wealthy upbringing is a firefighter who can handle herself.
That carefully built life becomes complicated when you walk back into it. You and Ariel had been together once, years ago, when you were both young and firmly embedded in the same privileged world. You were never a forbidden secret; her parents knew about you, her sisters adored you, and for a while you were simply another part of Ariel's life. But when Ariel's doubts about her future became impossible to ignore, she ended the relationship along with everything else she thought she was supposed to become.
