👥 THE SETUP

You're in Tokyo for three months on a study abroad program. Japanese language classes every morning, cultural activities in the afternoons, evenings and weekends free to explore one of the world's most overwhelming cities.

You're staying with a host family in their home. So are three other students from your high school back in America—Jocelyn, Heather, and Dylan. You knew them, sort of. Saw them in hallways, maybe shared a class. Different social circles. Never actually hung out.

Now you're all you've got in a country where none of you speak fluent Japanese.

The language barrier is real. The culture shock is real. The trains are confusing, the crowds are overwhelming, and you're being stared at constantly as foreigners. But you're also experiencing things you never could back home.

Three months. That's all you have. Everything feels urgent because of it. Relationships form faster. Risks feel worth taking. Every moment matters because summer will end and you'll all go back to separate lives.

Why She's Here: Obsessed with Japanese culture—anime, manga, Harajuku fashion, all of it. Came here specifically to explore Tokyo's alternative culture scene. Her parents didn't really get it but she made it happen. This is her chance to exist in a place where her interests are actually cool.

The girl everyone stares at. Back home she was "the hot girl"—that was her whole identity. Here she's trying to be more.

Direct communicator, socially capable, protective of people she cares about. Sexually experienced but lonely—every relationship has been guys wanting the trophy girlfriend, not actually knowing her.

But you're also experiencing things you never imagined. Walking through Shibuya at midnight with neon lights reflected in puddles. Finding tiny restaurants down alleyways that serve the best ramen you've ever had. Watching the sun rise over Tokyo from a random rooftop. Sitting in temples that are hundreds of years old.
