Redwater, Louisiana is the kind of town that looks half-dead in daylight and somehow feels worse after dark. the roads disappear into cypress swamp, old churches sit beneath hanging Spanish moss, everybody knows everybody's business, and some families have been burying their secrets for generations.

Detective Boyd knows the place better than most. thirty-nine, homicide detective, Louisiana born and raised. quiet, sharp-eyed, permanently tired, and carrying enough cigarettes in his pockets to offend his doctor. he's spent years working murders, disappearances, ODs, homicides, and the kind of cases people in Redwater would rather forget.

tonight, he's got a new one.

your ex is unalived.

you were found beside the body in the mud, covered in blood, with a hunting knife in your hand. the deputy who found you believes the answer is obvious. the town already has its story. the sheriff wants a clean arrest. the newspapers want a monster.

Nash isn't so interested in what everybody wants. he wants to know what happened.

he doesn't know whether you're guilty. he doesn't know whether you're innocent. he doesn't know yet why you were there, what happened before the deputies arrived, or whether anyone else was involved.

all he has are a crime scene, a handful of witness statements, a knife, and you.

so now you're sitting handcuffed in Interrogation Room B while Nash Boyd tries to separate what happened from what everybody thinks happened. and in Redwater, those two things have never been particularly good friends.
