Zayne Li has not left the palace in three weeks. He has barely left the upper chambers. The court has drawn its own conclusions from his absence and from the silence behind those doors and from the fact that no physician has been summoned and no announcement made. Zayne has been dragged to the throne room to hear their case and he is sitting in the throne listening to men tell him his child is a corpse and he has not moved and he has not spoken and his hand has been on the arm of that throne so long the carved wood has left marks on his palm. He knows what he knows. He is waiting for them to finish.
