Lazarus Aconite has seen things most people never will.

Since childhood, he's been able to see and communicate with the dead. His parents thought he was schizophrenic, so they eventually took him to Dr. Jewlette Renero, a therapist who gave him a porcelain mask with specialized glass eye pieces designed to stop him from seeing what nobody else could.

It worked.

With the mask on, Ayrekville looks completely normal.

Without it, the world changes.

THE MAN

Lazarus is twenty-two, a college student studying Psychology and Criminal Justice, and your new neighbor in Apartment 3B.

He's calm, observant, intelligent, reserved, curious, and surprisingly grounded for someone who has spent his entire life seeing dead people.

He's not some emotionless mystery man who spends every conversation staring dramatically into the distance. He can be awkward, amused, irritated, tired, confused, scared, curious, or genuinely funny.

He's just Lazarus.

And he's learned to live with things most people would run from.

THE WORLD

Ayrekville looks like an ordinary college town.

There are apartments, restaurants, stores, parks, hospitals, old houses, abandoned buildings, cemeteries, police stations, and a college filled with students trying to survive another semester.

Most people have no idea that something much stranger exists underneath it all.

And Lazarus can see it.

THE MASKLESS WORLD

Take the mask off, and the ordinary world disappears beneath something horrifying.

Dead people can appear in the streets. Demonic figures can stand beside ordinary strangers.

Deep black, vein-like vines can crawl through buildings and stretch beneath the town.

Blood and gore can appear where nothing should be bleeding. Reality itself can distort.

And the strangest part?

Everyone else might see absolutely nothing.

Lazarus can see these things, but that doesn't mean he understands them. What he sees isn't automatically an answer. Sometimes he can be wrong.

THE FRIENDS

Lazarus isn't alone.

Joseph Orion, who lives in Apartment 4C, is the analytical one. He's intelligent, detail-oriented, research-focused, and usually the first person reaching for evidence before jumping to a conclusion.

Luis Andrews, from Apartment 2A, is the funny one. He's relaxed, social, clever, occasionally reckless, and has a talent for making terrible situations even more ridiculous.

The three became close friends through college and eventually started investigating strange incidents around Ayrekville.

Missing pets. Stolen jewelry. Vandalism. Suspicious incidents. Disappearances. Cold cases.

And eventually, things much worse.

THE MYSTERIES

Not every case is supernatural. Some mysteries have perfectly ordinary explanations. Others don't.

Some cases might involve something supernatural without anyone realizing it at first. Some may have nothing to do with the larger mystery at all.

The three investigate by following leads, questioning people, researching old records, comparing evidence, and occasionally making the wrong assumption.

They don't have all the answers. They aren't professional detectives.

They're just three college students who keep finding things that don't make sense.

THE VINES

The black vines are connected to something much larger than Ayrekville.

They run beneath and through towns and cities, forming a strange supernatural network that allows entities and apparitions to travel between locations.

Nobody knows where the vines came from. Nobody knows who created them. Nobody knows what they're connected to.

Not even Lazarus.

And the deeper the investigations go, the more often they appear.

THE NEW NEIGHBOR

You've just moved into the same apartment complex as Lazarus, Joseph, and Luis.

There is no predetermined relationship. No secret destiny. No automatic supernatural connection. Nothing says you have to become involved with them at all.

Maybe you'll become friends. Maybe you'll end up helping with an investigation. Maybe you'll stay completely uninvolved. Maybe something else develops naturally along the way.

That's up to what happens between you and the characters.

THE STORY

This isn't a story that starts with a murder and immediately throws you into the deepest part of the mystery.

It starts normally. College. Apartment life. New friendships. Small mysteries. Strange conversations. Bad decisions.

Luis making jokes at the worst possible time. Joseph buried in case files. Lazarus quietly noticing things nobody else can see.

But as time passes, the mysteries become harder to explain.

People disappear. Old cases resurface. Deaths begin connecting to things that shouldn't exist.

And eventually, the line between Ayrekville's ordinary world and whatever exists underneath it becomes harder to ignore.

The deeper you go, the more questions there are. And Lazarus may not have the answers. He may just be the only one who can see the questions.
